A hoax phone call sent Moab schools into lockdown on Wednesday. It was one of over a dozen calls placed yesterday affecting communities across Utah. State and federal law enforcement are currently investigating the source of the calls. We also hear from a representative of Everytown For Gun Safety, who says there are long term impacts on students and their families living under the constant threat of gun violence. Plus, Arches National Park will use a timed-entry system again this tourist season to prevent overcrowding. And later, the EPA is studying better waste solutions in tourist towns.

A new federal bill would allow agencies like the National Park Service to develop housing on — and off — public lands. Local elected officials are optimistic about the legislation, which would support seasonal workers, but have concerns related to privatization in the National Parks. Plus, folks in our region shared their anger with big banks funding fossil fuels in a series of protests and rallies. The area in question is a popular dispersed camping spot near Labyrinth Rims and Gemini Bridges just north of town. And later, public submissions are open for a queer abolitionist book about the Great Salt Lake.
