In another not so busy week, but with big announcements and launches, we decided to turn back to another episode with more in-depth segments. However, before that, the latest on UK’s Official Singles Chart together with “New Music Friday” recommendations (0:58). Causing major buzz last week, Joe Rogan and Spotify are part of the first subject of this week’s podcast. We talked about how impactful the deal between both is to the podcast industry and some updates on Spotify’s competitors (4:52). Next, after mentioning it during a couple of episodes, TikTok debuts in our podcast. We covered some of its astounding numbers and the breaking news of former Disney’s high executive Kevin Mayer joining the company (15:21). Lastly, the latest player in the streaming wars race, HBO Max, is finally arriving. We discussed some of the investments made by AT&T along with information about the content that will be offered in this new platform (26:39). Back to Netflix, new release The Lovebirds and critically-acclaimed Django Unchained were our movie recommendations (35:52). Yéndonos hacia los videos juegos les platicamos sobre Unreal Engine 5, algo muy relevante en la industria, y tocamos nostalgia con la noticia de la remasterización Tony Hawk Pro Skater (11:06). A new week for us at La Campana, however, as bizarre as this may sound, we definitely needed to search to avoid only talking about sports. To keep you guys updated, just like every week, we left the latest movements in UK’s Official Singles Chart as well as our “New Music Friday” recommendations (1:32). To start our agenda, two certainly very interesting events that happened in the entertainment industry, the Kentucky Turtle Derby and the only chess competition organized by Magnus Carlsen (4:25). Proceeding to the video game world, we talked about Unreal Engine 5, something very relevant in the industry, and we touched nostalgia with the Tony Hawk Pro Skater remastering news (11:26). Thereafter, still celebrating the return of sports, we commented about the comeback of soccer/football in Germany (21:53). Lastly, still in the sports lane, but in terms of legends, we discussed the culmination of The Last Dance, Michael Jordan’s docu-series (30:54). For our movie recommendations, we left our beloved Netflix this week and went to video-on-demand to watch SCOOB! and Capone (42:56). Another week, more in-depth conversations. As usual, we started with the latest updates on UK’s Official Singles Chart followed by Lilia’s “New Music Friday” recommendations (1:45). Throwing the first pitch this week we have Fortnite (5:15). We briefly explained what’s the game about, its latest achievements, and Lilia gave us her take on some important crossovers as well as possible future collaborations. Shifting to concerts and live performances, we talked about Live Nation, its latest quarterly earnings, and its plans for the future (17:40). Thereafter, still talking about money, we discussed Disney’s latest financial report as well as what the company is planning for the foreseeable future (28:00). Finally, we chatted about UFC 249, which marked the return of live sports (37:25). Regarding our recommendations' segments, this week, Lilia switched to Hulu to watch the critically acclaimed Portrait of a Lady on Fire while Gui stayed on Netflix and recommended suspense/thriller Dangerous Lies starring Camila Mendes (44:35). Following the same approach as last week’s, but adding another subject, we have more in-depth discussions. Back into the fashion world, and throwing the first pitch in this week’s agenda, we talked about how amfAR and Carine Roitfeld took a break from the Cannes Film Festival and organized the amfAR Runaway, a completely different approach into fashion shows (5:44). Shifting towards social media, we analyzed Facebook’s recent Q1 financial reports, specifically the increment in the number of users and the decrease in advertising purchase (15:25). Thereafter, still talking about finances, we moved into music to talk Spotify Q1 earnings and the change in behaviors affecting not only music consumption but also podcasts (26:43). Lastly, still surfing the music wave, we discussed the latest trend regarding live musical performances, drive-in concerts (36:26). This week, for our movie recommendations, Lilia chatted about The Willoughbys, Netflix’s new major animation production, and Gui went out of his comfort zone and talked about The Half of It, the streamer’s new romantic comedy (42:58). Well, this week we did things a little differently and dug a little deeper into our subjects. We started with the usual updates on UK’s Official Singles Chart, however commenting about two covers that were done specifically to benefit COVID-19 relates causes, and gave our weekly “New Music Friday” recommendations (1:45). We kicked off our agenda with sports talking about the NFL draft, the audience it drew, and some of the most buzzed names of the weekend (7:02). Thereafter, shifting towards social media platforms, we talked about Snapchat, some of its latest unveiled numbers, and its adopted approach regarding sales of ad space (20:52). Finally, focusing on streaming, we also discussed some of Netflix’s latest disclosed numbers (29:45), subscribers and financials, and stayed on that lane to give our weekly movie recommendations, Extraction and Time to Hunt, both on the platform (39:23).
