Una nueva semana en el podcast, pero volvimos con nuestros segmentos más cortos (por lo menos la mayoría de ellos). Sin embargo, muchas noticias impactantes la semana pasada. Como de costumbre, arrancamos el episodio de esta semana con nuestro rápido viaje a Gran Bretaña para chequear las novedades de la UK Official Single Charts y nos clavamos en la lista de #newmusicfriday de Spotify para darles algunas recomendaciones (1:55). Dando el puntapié inicial de nuestra agenda, hablamos de otro festival virtual masivo llamado Global Goal: Unite for Our Future. ¿Por qué masivo? Porque han recaudado casi $7 billones (5:14). Luego, nos trasladamos hacia el lado business de la super estrella la NBA LeBron James y su empresa SpringHill Co. (15:49). A new week on the podcast, and we’re back with our shorter segments (at least most of them). Nonetheless, some very impactful news over the past week. As usual, we started this week’s episode with our quick trip to the UK to check the latest updates on the Official Singles Chart and we dove into Spotify’s #newmusicfriday playlist to give you some recommendations (2:02). To kick our agenda off, we talked about another massive virtual event called Global Goal: Unite for Our Future. Why massive? Because the raised nearly $7B (5:36). Thereafter, we moved into the business hustles from basketball superstar LeBron James and his SpringHill Co. (18:35). Thirdly, we “traveled” to New York City to chat about Broadway and how it won’t have any plays or musicals for the remainder of 2020 (26:50). Lastly, we brought an intriguing piece of news regarding movies turned into podcasts, an idea from Cadence13 (34:28). As for our movie recommendations, we both stayed in the comedy genre and watched My Spy (Amazon) and Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga (Netflix) (43:45). If sports news were popping like popcorn at the movie theaters in the previous weeks, this week, the video game industry was the hot one. However, we headed first to the UK for our updates on the Official Singles Chart and our #newmusicfriday recommendations (1:35). Before transporting ourselves into the gaming universe, we discussed the return of three major European soccer/football leagues, La Liga (Spain), Premier League (England), and Serie A (Italy) (5:13). Now, as for video game immersion, we covered the latest news regarding the PS5, “The Last of Us,” and many updates in terms of new games (20:28). Lastly, we chatted about Live Nation’s latest announcement as well as their upcoming drive-in tour (42:28). For our movie recommendations, Lilia chose Hulu’s TV show Love, Victor and Gui watched Netflix-Spike Lee collaboration Da 5 Bloods (49:35). Similar to the Fast & Furious franchise, we decided to do a spin-off of the podcast and invite two very special guests. This time, we were joined by Dr. Kim Craft and Dr. Dan Spellman to talk about the current state of the film industry as well as discuss what could be happening, both in terms of actions taken and consumer behavior, in the upcoming months. We covered aspects suchlike movies being released straight to video-on-demand, the return of drive-in theaters, and upcoming major studios releases. Dr. Craft is an expert in film distribution while Dr. Spellman has worked in marketing for multiple big studio productions. Much like Lilia and me, both of our guests are massive movie aficionados.

Última semana bastante movida en el mundo de los deportes🔥Bueno, acá nosotros les cubrimos un poco de eso. Back to the film industry, but now on focusing on exhibitors, we went over the quarterly earnings of movie theater chains AMC and Cinemark (19:42). For our movie recommendations, Gui made a last-minute substitution and went to Hulu to watch Shirley while Lilia chose last year’s highly praised drama Just Mercy (29:55).
