The atheist loves himself and finds fetters; the believer loves God and finds freedom.

“If we were thankful for more, we would

have more to be thankful for.”

- Jim Elliot, Martyred Missionary

The more the light of the truth dims in a culture, the more darkness envelops that society and the wicked strut their stuff. There is nothing like a fierce commitment to and an onslaught of truth to scatter lies and discourage liars.

The prosperity of the wicked is a temporal illusion that always ends in everlasting ignominy and calamity. Divine justice never sleeps; it just winks. God picks His spots and bides His time and sends His retribution on the dime every time.

Who we are and where we are going often has a lot to do with where we are from. The Bible gives us the beginning to not just our story but to the story of all things and all people. “In the beginning God created…” God is the creator of all things and all people. We are creation’s crown but God is creation’s King. He gave us an identity in His image and a purpose by our role in His creation. Yet, both our identity and purpose begin and are found in the God who gave them. We cannot ultimately know who we are or where we are going if we do not know God.

A 'sunshine' faith that has never lived anyplace but Happy Valley has no longevity. It can't take the heat for long. But God wisely makes sure true faith spends its share of time under clouds of darkness and in the valley of the shadow of death. That is because to be hail and hardy, biblical faith needs a challenging environment.

Let us take care of God’s business and let Him take care of ours.

In true believers, their faith always runs deeper than any doubt, and in the end it comes out.

Trying to thwart the plan and purposes of God is as futile as a colony of ants trying to stop an elephant. God is sovereign.

He will prevail though all Hell conspires against Him.

What matters the most when we die, what we have obtained and accomplished in this life or who we have become? Understanding the right perspective on this is a matter of life and death.
