LAMP

Keeping it in the family this week we are happy to have Awaken back with us as we get ready to release a brand new remix package from his debut album with PUZL records. With remixes coming from Xinobi, Pascal Pur, Franks Serin and Silly Nova we get to revisit the amazing release from earlier this year. The French producer is always very mindful of the overall message that his music conveys. Even his mixes take on that same philosophy. We go by number here at LAMP and as such the mix is titled #254 and don't usually have mixes submitted to us with a title. Awaken has given this mix a title "Abeyance" which I would feel bad for neglecting as it is part of the art he is making. There are a few meanings that can be derived from that word after listening to the mix. If you don't know what Abeyance means, look it up and see if you agree. Sit back and enjoy the smooth and melodic tones that dominate the landscape as he takes listeners on journey of musical discovery and enlightenment.

Hope everyone has recovered from their sugar and alcohol overload of the past couple weeks. We have a special mix for you this week from our head honcho PZB aka Josh Brooks. Earlier in October he was invited to perform alongside the rest of the Dirtybird players for some special silent disco afterhours sets at the Bass Lodge. With Worthy and Christian Martin to his left and Bot and Wood Holly to his right Brooks took the Dirtybird crowd down a techno wormhole and we are stoked he recorded it so we can share it with you for our weekly mix series. We are going to catch up with PZB/ Josh Brooks in our weekly mix write up and interview this week and see what he has been up to and what is new in his world. So make sure to check the website (www.losangelesmusicproject.com) later this week for that and the complete track listing. Enjoy

This week’s guest mix comes to us by way of a young and prolific producer from the Netherlands by the name of Jengi. His unique and eclectic style along with his forward-thinking production has garnered him international acclaim, remixes for major artists, and made him a vanguard in Amsterdam’s flourishing electronic music scene. For his guest mix he delivers an impeccable selection of eclectic tunes ranging from funk, to house, to futuristic beats and hip hop. So turn the volume up and catch a vibe to the groovy sounds of Jengi. Also, be sure to sure to check in later this week for the tracklist and an exclusive interview.

Whoa didn't realize it till this morning but today is our 250th mix!!! Can't think of a better way to introduce the newest member to the LAMP family with this new mix from Keyspan. We met Keyspan about 9 months ago and he has been working with the team behind the scenes while really honing in on his productions skills. He is an accomplished selector as you will discover in his mix he put together for you all this week. Extremely intelligent and thoughtful, Keyspan has a thorough understanding of how to manipulate soundscapes in way that is smooth while keeping you engaged and grooving hard. We are going to have much more with Keyspan, including his debut release with LAMP "As Within", and a little Q & A over on the website so stay tuned throughout the week at www.losangelesmusicproject.com

Today we’re extremely excited to share a very special guest mix from a world-renowned hit-making producer and one of the finest DJs to ever come out of The Netherlands. The Flexican rose to international prominence back in 2013 when his track “Bumaye” was readapted by Major Lazer in one of their biggest hits “Watch Out For This (Bumaye)”. After a two year hiatus touring and releasing as a solo artist, the Flexican made a triumphant return back in September with the release of his stellar new single “Come to Me.” Since then the Flexican has been back in rare form tearing up dance floors across Europe and Asia, hosting his radio show called “High Fidelity”, and preparing for a headlining set at ADE next week. Today he was gracious enough to take some time out of his busy schedule to deliver us an absolute banger of a mix. The track list spans a diverse range of styles blending classic and contemporary hip hop, Latin, rhythms, experimental beats, and dance music from around the world blended together seamlessly by the hand of a true master. So sit back and enjoy the sweet sounds of The Flexican. This week we are happy to feature HDSN. The young German producer and label owner has put together a fun mix full of soul and funk centered around some extremely classic house vibes. Coming soon is a brand new vinyl only release on his own label Nothing But A Soul Thing (NBAST) which is sure to sell out considering the two previous releases did the same. The name of the release is titled Soul City Jams and this weeks mix samples the new EP along with some other great tunes. We will have a complete track list later this week along with a more from HDSN over on the website www.losangelesmusicproject.com/weeklymix Click the links down below to check out the full release and pick up a copy when it comes out.

We are excited to have our good friend Maikol back in the mix this week. Outside of the LAMP crew he has been just about the only artist that we have had contribute multiple mixes and for good reason. He always brings strong vibes with his track selection and this latest mix is no exception. After a three week stay on his first exursion to Europe Maikol after a jet lagged 3am session sent his mix over a couple weeks early. From the first song to the last you can feel the energy of his excitement after embarking on such an epic journey. While the track selection is not very worldly it is apparent that hin european experience has had an impact on this mix. Sit back and enjoy the ride.

Happy Tuesday! It is time for our weekly mix installment and we have a pretty special one for you today. We have been huge fans of Juliet for some time. With releases across some of our favorite labels such as Material and Suara and really too many others to mention here along with running and releasing as well on her own label Kittball Records. Which in my opinion has been and continues to be a leading label in all things house and techno. If you have been following LAMP for a while, then you are probably familiar, as we have featured the labels work here on multiple occasions. It is a pleasure to have Juliet Share her talents with us and hope you enjoy what she put together. Make sure to check the blog tomorrow (www.losangelesmusicproject.com)for a full write up and Interview with MR. PUZL and PZB.
