イタズラばかりしている小ぎつね・ごん。

ある日、村の百姓・兵十が川で魚を捕っているのを見つけ、イタズラ心から 彼が捕った魚やウナギを逃がしてしまう。

それから十日ほど後、兵十の母は亡くなった。

ごんはウナギを逃がした後悔から、鰯、栗や松茸などを兵十の家に届け続ける。

A little fox named Gon is always playing pranks.

One day, he finds Hyouju, a farmer in the village, catching fish in the river, and out of mischief, he lets the fish and eels he caught escape.

About ten days later, Hyouju's mother dies.

Gon regrets letting the eels go, and continues to deliver sardines, chestnuts, and matsutake mushrooms to Hyouju's house.
