与右衛門は畑仕事の帰り道、嫁の累を殺す。

その後、与右衛門はきれいな女房をもらうが、その女房たちは次々と謎の死を遂げる。

6番目の女房は、娘・菊を産んだ後、菊が13歳で死んだ。

与右衛門は菊に婿をもらい、隠居しようとするが、菊もまた謎の病に倒れるのであった。

On his way home from working in the fields, Yoemon kills his wife, Kasane.

Later, Yoemon gets a beautiful wife, but they die one after another in mysterious ways.

The sixth wife died at the age of thirteen, after giving birth to his daughter Kiku.

Yoemon gets a son-in-law for Kiku and tries to retire, but Kiku also falls ill with a mysterious disease.
