趙の都・邯鄲に住む紀昌（きしょう）は、天下第一の弓の名人になろうと名手・飛衛（ひえい）に入門し、五年余の難しい修行のすえに奥義秘伝を習得する。紀昌は飛衛を殺そうとして失敗し、さらなる名人を求めて西の霍山に隠棲する老師・甘蠅（かんよう）を訪ねる。

Kishou, who lives in Handan, the capital of Zhao, learns the secret of the bow from the master archer Hiie, and after more than five years of difficult training, he becomes the best archer in the world. After five years of difficult training, he mastered the secrets of the bow. After an unsuccessful attempt to kill Hiei, Kisho went in search of more masters and went to visit his master, Ganyou, who was living in hiding in Huo Mountain in the west.
