『木曽の怪物』

明治23年の3月。父は軽井沢に逗留していた。

信濃路は大雪で、宿屋より外へは出られず、日々、囲炉裏を囲んでいると、

山の漁師が鹿を撃ったばかりの担いでやってきたので、腿だけを買って、夜に遊びに来いというと、

猟師はやってきて、木曽の怪物（エテモノ）の話をしてくれた。

The Monster of Kiso

It was March of 1889. My father was staying in Karuizawa.

It was snowing so hard on the Shinano Road that he couldn't go out of the inn, so he spent his days sitting around the hearth.

A mountain hunter came carrying a deer he had just shot, and told him to buy only the thighs and come and play at night.

The hunter came and told me about the monsters of Kiso.
