朗読「時計のない村」小川未明

　時計のない村は、太陽の上がりで時間を計る生活を送っていました。

　ある日、甲の金持ちが「この文明の世の中に時計を用いなくては話にならぬ」と町から時計を買ってきます。

　そして時計を見たことのない村人が時計について寄り合い、時計の時間を合わせるようになりました。

　もう一人の乙の金持ちは、村人が甲の金持ちに出入りするのを嫉妬し、自分も町から時計を買ってきます。

　ところが、二つの時計は30分ぐらい時間が違っていたので、二人の金持ちは「自分の時計こそ正しい」と主張し、村人の中でも二派に分かれて争うようになってしまいました。

　A village without a clock used to measure time by the rising sun.

　One day, a rich man named Kou bought a clock from the town, saying, "In this civilized world, we must have a clock.

　The villagers, who had never seen a clock before, began to gather around the clock and set the time.

　The other rich man, B, is jealous of the villagers' access to the rich man, A, and buys himself a watch from the town.

　However, since the two clocks differed in time by about 30 minutes, the two rich men insisted that their clocks were the correct ones, and the villagers became divided into two factions and fought among themselves.
