8月の東京、学生たちは帰省したり、海は山へ遊びに行き、残っているのは呑んだくれくらいだった。

そんな連中が本郷のバーで集まって呑んでるうち、「どこか出かけよう」となって東京駅へ行って汽車に乗った。

田舎駅で降りて、真夜中の道を歩いているうちに、向こうから提灯の灯りが見えてきた。

It was August in Tokyo, the students had gone home, the sea had gone to the mountains, and the only ones left were the drunkards.

While we were drinking at a bar in Hongo, we decided to go out somewhere, so we went to Tokyo Station and took a train.

We got off the train at a country station, and as we were walking down the street in the middle of the night, we could see the lights of lanterns from the other side.
