喫茶店の貧しいウェイトレスは、同じビルで働く大学生の男に恋をした。

男は、継母のもとで、兄弟に疎んじられ、親戚の誰にも相手をされず、働きながら大学で学んでいた。

彼女は、そんな男のために、ひとつの手助けをしていた。
