二月のある日、野中のさびしい道を、三十四、五の男と、十二、三の少年と、同じ方へ歩いていた。男が話しかけて、自然に会話がはじまった。

少年は名前をれんといった。れんは人なつっこい少年だった。寒いからといって、男のオーバーのポケットに手を入れてもいい？　と訊いてきた。れんがポケットに手を入れると、中から美しい音楽が流れ出して、男は少しだけ慌てた。

One day in February, a man of thirty-four or fifty and a boy of twelve or thirty were walking in the same direction along a lonely road in the middle of the field. The man spoke to the boy, and a conversation naturally began.

The boy said his name was Ren. Ren was an amiable boy. Can I put my hand in the pocket of the man's overcoat because I'm cold?　He asked. When Ren put his hands in his pockets, beautiful music started playing inside, and the man panicked a little.
