私は彼女を美しいと思つた。彼女はまた如何にも弱々しさうで、いたいけであつた。

私は出奔した。その年の八月半ばに、彼女をすて家をすてて、失踪した。

I got married once in my nineteenth year. My wife was a girl who had just turned sixteen.

I thought she was beautiful. I thought she was beautiful, but she was also very weak and miserable.

I ran away. In the middle of August of that year, I left her, abandoned my home, and disappeared.
