A highly imaginative, spellbinding sci-fi with a sinister distopian edge
Unsure of what I would encounter within `the coalition' I was caught completely by surprise, as a result of the eclectic mix of genres fused together in this original novel. Anyone seeking a character-driven YA story which avoids all those common clichés that you tend to find within this genre will find this singular story a refreshingly new read, with added spunk and cleverness. The entire concept of Aria J Wolfe's creation is very different to anything else I have encountered before, and so I would urge readers to overlook the fact that this is another debut by an unknown author...as you may be pleasantly surprised!
The storyline focuses on a group of teenagers who find out that things are not as they seem, when a chain of events leads to something most remarkable. With a fantastic main protagonist and a cast of colourful characters, the story highlights how even in the darkest of times there is always a glimmer of light. Full of nail-biting tension and suspense, the action will sweep you away on a thrilling adventure and epic voyage of discovery. I simply loved how the intricately woven narrative kept me guessing throughout, as to what might happen next and how each individual character is portrayed to be something different when seen in a new light. Just when I thought I had got `under the skin' of one of the characters, was I thrown off guard by a twist in the tale! The engaging storyline and fast-paced action kept me turning the pages eager to unravel the mystery surrounding a book, a key and a strange vision...
With a sprinkling of romance amid the drama, I was touched to the core by an overwhelming surge of emotions. This highly readable, engaging story will make you laugh and cry at the same time and let the legacy of `The Coalition' linger on.
I am so pleased to have had the opportunity to read this sensational story and so not only am I looking forward to book 2 in the series, but also would like to thank the author for providing me with a copy of her novel to read.
    4.5 stars
    Overly amazing
This book leaves you speechless and emotional. With many unexpected plot twists, shocking discoveries, and emotional times, The Coalition is an amazing read for anyone.
When perspectives change with the chapters, you may think you know what will happen or how someone feels, but jarring revelations and secrets change everything in a matter of a few words.
Aria Wolfe is a highly skilled author, and depicts scenes, emotions and thoughts with clarity, yet mixed feelings of the characters leave you feeling deeply involved in lives, thoughts, and dark secrets.
Reading this book, I never wanted to put it down. There is no "best" or "good" part. Every part is the best part! I give this book 5 stars for being one of the best books I've ever read.
    Kept waiting for something
Strange book, way too confusing and hard to follow the plot.

Peter and the Crown is the first book in the Phantom of New York series, an adventure for listeners age 10 and up. If you like smart, funny characters and can't-pause escapades, then you'll love Alan Janneys Phantom of New York series.

    Phantom leaves you wanting more!
Would you consider the audio edition of Peter and the Crown to be better than the print version?
I haven't read the print version but listened to the book on a road trip recently. I think it started a little slow but I found myself "binging" on it without even realizing it. The book "grew on me".
What was one of the most memorable moments of Peter and the Crown?
I think Peter's encounter with a ghost is the highlight. Janney did a good job building up the suspense of the encounter and it didn't fail. I love that Peter had to overcome his lack of belief in who he is/was and overcome fear to realize his potential. This is very "Harry Potterish."
Which character as performed by A. L. Janney was your favorite?
I think Peter is a lovable character that is easy to cheer for but the cast of characters is really diverse and entertaining.
    Any additional comments?
I am excited to read the next book. I think Allan Janney is a rising star in this genre. I stumbled onto him with his Outlaw Series and loved it. The Phantom series is for a younger audience and has great potential to be very entertaining. I can't wait to see what the Phantom does next!
    Amazing story!
I love this book! My 13 year old son and my 9 year old daughter both enjoyed it! Its so nice to have a book like this with an age appropriate story that isnt about boy crazy girls or super heros on their underwear!!

    So well done!
I can't imagine anyone better than Bronson Pinchot for the narrator! It is perfection! I only wanted to *listen* to this book, not read it, because I was so in love with his reading of "Furthermore". I dearly hope there will be more books in this series because I have grown so fond of the characters.
    Freaked me out
I really really loved the Futhermore book and was looking forward to reading Whichwood but it was on chapter 18 I had to end it. Spiders coming out of a kids elbow and bugs crawling all over him as a special power. NOPE! CantSo disappointed. Enjoy if you can stomach it.

    Language: English
    Release date: 08-22-17
    Publisher: Audible Studios

    Genres: Teens, Ages 11-13
    Publisher's Summary:
Teen Vogue's Top YA Book Pick for November 2016
The new best-selling novel from C. D. Bell will get your heart racing and blood pumping as you fall in love with Nessa Kurland. Part werewolf romance, part teen thriller, Weregirl tells one girl's story of growth in the face of danger, rivalry, transformation, and love. A beautiful meditation on coming of age, told through a fantasy lens.
Nessa Kurland is running for her life.
High school junior Nessa Kurland is a cross-country runner with her eyes set on one thing: a college scholarship as her one-way ticket out of Tether, Michigan, a town on the brink of shutdown since it was devastated by corporate polluter Dutch Chemical.
Talented teammate Cynthia invites Nessa on a nighttime run through Tether's overgrown forest trails. But she speeds ahead, leaving Nessa alone to discover a trapped wolf. Nessa tries to free the animal but is badly bitten, seemingly ruining her hopes for a strong fall season.
Instead, Nessa's freakishly quick recovery is followed by improved running times. All her senses are heightened. Nessa has transformed.
    She has become a werewolf.
In her new state, Nessa learns that Tether has many secrets. What is really going on at the small-town clinic? Can she decipher what the wolf pack she's been running with is trying to tell her? Nessa must navigate true human darkness and the uncertainty of young love, all while making peace with her new, wild nature.
    Critic Reviews:
"Weregirl is not a love story as Twilight was - nor does it fall victim to the dreaded love triangle that many other YA novels make the focal point. Ultimately, Nessa feels like a real girl, with all of the flaws, desires, and confusing feelings that real girls her age have." (Revelist)
    Members Reviews:
    Excellent first Werewolf YA Start
This is the first of a new series. Thisbook is mostly a thriller-mystery with just a pinch of teen romance. Bell does an excellent job paining a big corporation nemesis. Paravita (the company) is up to no good. It a large no-good plot, and Nessa, being a newly made werewolf is just the woman for the job to tackle their criminal ways. The central tension in this book is about Nessa understanding her role in the community in which she lives and the place she occupies with the people she loves.
Elizabeth Evens does and excellent job in Narration.
There are a number of twists and turns. You do see some connections coming before they are made official in the narration. Other than that, the plot is tight and keeps your attention. I give it a thumbs up and look forward to the next book in the series.
    Main Character is Dim-witted
The main character in the story is completely dim witted. She fails to realise things that are completely obvious from the get go, perhaps the author left too many plot clues. The main character falls into such obvious traps that is cringe worthy to listen to.
It honestly feels like the author is trying to stick to the usually successful formula to sell books to teens: a female character who has some kind of supernatural encounter/is somehow special who has a love triangle and a happy ending.
In fact, the only good things about this book were the action scenes and the wolf scenes.
The performance of the audiobook was easy to follow and engaging.
In conclusion, although the performance is good, the plot is weak and the main character is hard to like due to her obliviousness.

    A hit on Wattpad
I first came upon this book on Wattpad when I first joined, and it has been one of the few books that I kept rereading. It is phenomenally written. The storyline and characters are beyond words. It's hard to find decent werewolf stories because far too many are cliched and predictable, but this is a must-read.

    Members Reviews:
This series just keeps getting better!
I have to say this one is my favorite in the series so far, but make sure to read the first two first! Crystal is coming into her abilities beautifully, she still second guesses herself. The teenage problems made me smile, "you mean he hasn't told you he loves you yet?" and things like that. Will Crystal's moms wedding be put off because of her mission to safe Sage? I'll never tell :-) I definitely recommend this book! Again this book is for all ages, not too scary for younger kids (10+).
    Frost
Wonderfully written book and an even more amazing read! I just love seeing where Crystals next vision takes her and the people she meets and gets to help. All the while fine tuning her gift that was bestowed on her to help those in need. This teen takes each challenge as it comes and not only finds a way to understand the cryptic visions she gets, but starts to better understand who she is. This one left me teary eyed. Can't wait to read the next!
    Book 3 is great
Crystal has time against her and she must race to save someone from a future she has already been warned about. All the while fine tuning her gift that was bestowed on her to help those in need. She must find this girl and save her. She meets the girl while trying dresses on for the wedding. And learns the girl goes to school with her boyfriend Robin. She tries to become friends with this girl so she can save her. What she didn't expect was the danger tho be what it turned out to be.
Another great book in a fantastic ya paranormal series
Another entertaining book in the frost Series. It is well paced and keeps the journey going with Crystal, her friends, and family. This book takes on the subject matter of abuse. As in all the books in this series, the characters are well developed and the pace is perfect. Crystal discovers new aspects to her ability and continues to develop her gifts. If you liked the first two books, you will like this one too. It is a very entertaining ya paranormal adventure.
    Inspired
This book was beyond great. As the frost ladies get ready for a wedding things as always go array but in the end I don't think there is another group better prepared. And the true meaning of the title is heartwarming
