    Twisted, troubled, but tremendous
I had such a hard time finding this book in stores! It seemed they only had the sequel but the cover art alone hooked me and I knew I had to find the first and I was not disappointed. The cover art does not do it justice to the twisted, tragic, and troubled world Edward Carey has created. I'll admit the beginning is confusing at first, Carey just throws you in without explanations but it sure is a wild ride!
It's a nice twist of reality
It's a nice twist of reality: it looks ALMOST like everything normal in victorian England, but then you're on for a ride on the real wild side... and then, unfortunately this being a story in several volumes you end the book with... no end! you have to wait the next volume to know what's coming next... and next... and next... (which I hate! hence the 4 stars... I like a good end and this book only delivered more... expectation?)
Heap House is so horrible it becomes horribly delightful
Heap House is so horrible it becomes horribly delightful. It is so over the top that I don't think it would actually scare a child and it is hilarious in it's bizarreness. This has to be one of the most original books ever and I liked it so much that I will buy the sequel. P.S. The author, Edward Carey, is also the illustrator. Note his photo on the back cover. He looks like his boy protagonist, Clod. Also, I love that the girl protagonist is brave, says what she's thinking, and loyal to what very few friends she has.
    Great read, delightful characters
I couldn't wait, I ordered the second in the trilogy (Foulsham) from a UK bookseller. Great read, delightful characters, I heartily recommend the Iremonger series to young adults and old adults. ;-)
    Family Business
Enjoyed this very creative story about family and the
"haves" and "have nots' and how they live
together. Look forward to Book Two.

Another great read from this author but the ending left me hanging..
I like this author.. But I'm puzzled about the ending.. there is no mention of another book coming in this series and the ending left me 'hanging'.. don't know what the story is there..Is there a happily ever after or do they all just fade away or what? I like the characters but again, this author has some grammar issues.. I have a hard time 'blindly' reading over them because 'mentally' I'm making corrections which takes away from the flow of the story. The characters are complex at times which is a good thing. I'd like to see more from this author but I don't want to go 'back in time' to read 'prequels' if you will.. I've never been fond of those.
Another awesome Whill of Agora book
If you like epic battles, magic good vs evil, elves, dragons, and dwarves. You'll love this book and the three proceeding
it. Whill is an awesome character made believable by Ploofs' extreme talent with character development. This is an ongoing epic saga and I plan on starting the next book immediately.
A Must read for all Agorians!!!!!
I love the story line very much. I love how Mr. Ploof has built his world and how he doesn't get all "Wood Smithy" and uses 2 pages to describe what he wants and only uses 2 or 3 sentences. I love his Characters and how he has incorporated a lot of different races and species into the world of Agora!!!
NOW with that being said..... He left out One major character in this lastest book / story line.... And that would be the Kick Butt General Reeves!!!! Now the General would have been a Great person to have around when you are trying to kill a massive Undead Army!!! That is if Mr. Ploof could have gotten the General out of the local Bar..... Just saying.... LOL
Anyway I would Very much recommend these books. The story line is capturing and moves along very nicely. It doesn't bog down and let this reader down!!!!
I hope the next book would be way better.
This is the classic example for when an author delivers a such great tale and with an amazing quality and pace with its previous book, and then he just can not live up to the expectation created for his next instalment .
Perhaps it is because I enjoyed the first stories so much, that this book was a huge disappointed. All characters just lost most of the trails that made then so intriguing and unforgettable. Felt like the author was in a hurry to finish it.
I really hope the he would bring his original writing style back in the next book.
I though i was reading A Song of Ice and Fire Book 4 - a never ending tale, forgettable and which the major plot could be easily published in less than 10 pages.
    Am very good read
I have read books one through five thus far. The plot, pace, and flow of the stories were excellent. I would whole heartedly recommend reading them to anyone who enjoys fantasy novels.

Heart-stopping action and exciting new revelations will leave listeners hungry for the final installment in the series.

    Cool
Great book! I've reads all the three books. All of the three books was a remarkable and magnificent books.
    Thanks!
    Five Stars
My son really loved this book.
    Five Stars
    just as expected
    A Disappointing Conclusion
The Revival was one of my most anticipated conclusions to a YA Dystopian trilogy this year, yet it ended up being that which disappointed me the most. The spark is gone, leaving readers with tired plot lines, reworked and rehashed from the previous books. The way that the survivors banded together to further their goals is largely absent; instead, there is only suspicion, abuse, and a wholly implausible story.
For a book that is well under three hundred pages, The Revival drags and is difficult to finish. The only thing that I can be glad about is that the series has concluded and author Chris Weitz can move on to future endeavors. I do like his writing style and his ability to craft complete characters, balanced with a good story, so I look forward to that which he may write in the future.

Megan McKnight is a soccer star with Olympic dreams, a history major, and an expert at the three Rs of Texas (readin', ridin', and ropin'), but she's not a girly girl. So when her Southern belle mother secretly enters her as a debutante for the 2016 deb season in their hometown of Dallas, she's furious - and has no idea what she's in for.
When Megan's attitude gets her on probation with the mother hen of the debs, she's got a month to prove she can ballroom dance, display impeccable manners, and curtsy like a proper Texas lady, or she'll get the boot and disgrace her family.
The perk of being a debutante, of course, is going to parties, and it's at one of these lavish affairs that Megan gets swept off her feet by the debonair and down-to-earth Hank Waterhouse. If only she didn't have to contend with a backstabbing blonde and her handsome but surly billionaire boyfriend, Megan thinks, being a deb might not be so bad after all. But that's before she humiliates herself in front of a room full of 10-year-olds, becomes embroiled in a media-frenzy scandal, and gets punched in the face by another girl.
The season has officially begun...but the drama is just getting started.

    Big D, Dallas & Debs
Would you listen to The Season again? Why?
Really loved this book. Has a classic style and form, but set in modern day Dallas. Great summer read for everyone and recommend for tweens, teens and college. Story of Megan who doesn't like to be judged on her outward appearance and actions, yet she is quick to judge others. She learns not to judge so quickly and how to show the world who she really is.
Who was your favorite character and why?
    Megan of course!
Which character as performed by Erin Spencer was your favorite?
    She performed well.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Lots of laughter, and plenty of touching moments.
    Any additional comments?
    Great book!
Good audio, engaging story, too much sex!
I liked this story, but since this book is aimed at a teen audience, I was dismayed that too much time was spent suggesting that all girls have casual sex without any consequences as long as it's done with a condom!!!!!
    My kind of story.
I really enjoyed this one. It had romance. It had comedy. And best of all, it had depth. A definite recommend.
    Pride and prejudice meets Texas!
This book was such a break! Easy to listen to and so easy to enjoy! Definitely worth a credit!
    Fun and entertaining!
I thoroughly enjoyed this book! The characters were so fun and entertaining. I laughed out loud in some places because the narrator beought out each moment. If you are looking for something to lighten your spirits this is it.!

    A Treasure!
This series has been one of the best! The story keeps your interest as the story teller does an excellent job with the reading. Hoping S. E. Grove continues with these characters on another adventure.
    Entertaining - thought provoking
S.E. Grove thinks outside the box in crafting a thoughtful as well as entertaining trilogy. The stories successfully create a world (s), characters and a plot which grows and develops. I highly recommend this trilogy to both young and old alike. There are many ideas worth discussing reflected in current issues of the world today.

When a princess turns 18, she is not supposed to sneak away from her own birthday celebration with the first handsome prince she meets. But Pippa is not just any princess, and there is nothing she enjoys more than a moonlit ride through the woods. Only one thing could ruin a beautiful evening under the stars with Galinor, the dark-haired, blue-eyed prince of Glendon - and that's her father tracking her down.
When King Ewan catches Pippa, he orders her to spend 12 days of confinement in the castle. This is an inconvenience for the princess, considering 30 princes and lords have come from all across the Kingdoms of Elden to fight in a tournament for her hand in marriage. Not willing to stand idly by while her fate is being decided, Pippa enlists the help of her childhood friend Archer, master archer of the kingdom. Together, they make a pact to do everything in their power to ensure Galinor's victory in the tournament.
But as the events progress and the stakes get higher and higher, Pippa and Archer are forced to not only confront marauding bandits, angry dragons, and King Ewan's wrath, but also the growing attraction between them....
    Members Reviews:
    Great Story
This is a great story; however, I enjoyed reading the book more than listening to it--mostly because of the narrator's voice. The narrator sounded like she was trying to be syrupy sweet and breathy which is not at all how I feel Pippa was characterized in the story. I hope the author has an opportunity to select a different narrator for her future books; one whose voice better fits the personality and character of the stories' lead. The book however is awesome!
    cute story.
predictable but still enjoyable. the characters are likable. cute wholesome story. appropriate for any age reader
    Earnestly Performed Sweet, Standard Fairytale
Summary: A small kingdom hosts a tournament to draw people together and marry off its princess.
    Random Comments:
    - The narrator does a nice job with the reading. Most voices are distinct, though many of the male characters sound similar. The recording itself has a few of those natural pops that are crazy hard to get rid of, but I don't mind too much.
    - Pippa (3/5 stars) - the main character is occasionally really annoying.
    - side characters (4/5 stars) - fairly well developed
    - Bad guy (3/5 stars) - tiresomely "evil"
    - Star-crossed lovers thing - was predictable but fitting
    - Ending (3.5/5 stars) - Everything works out as one would expect, no great surprises.
    - tournament fights are described decently well
    - side plots were sometimes more interesting than the main plot
    - I think I would have stopped reading about midway through if it were just the book, but the narration adds a nice layer to it.
Conclusion: It's the sort of story many people will feel they've heard a hundred times before. The fantasy elements are minimal at best, so if you're looking for magic and mystery, look elsewhere. If you're looking for a sweet YA romance you know's gonna work out in the end, go for it.

    Beautiful story perfectly delivered
What a wonderful story. We enjoyed it deeply. Theater, friendship, growing up and coping with loss are explored in a powerfully gentle way in this warm story.
    Great read for any age
This book flows and has both tender and some very funny moments in it. Wonderful insight into what's going on internally as well as what is external. It rings very true to life and is an enjoyable and thought provoking book. I whole heartedly recommend.
Great summer reading book for middle school girls
Hi! I'm going into 8th grade and thought that this book was awesome, it's sad, happy, drama filled, and more!! I loved this and want to read a sequel(if the author makes one)!!!
Summerlost by Ally Condie is a great summer read!
Wonderful coming of age, summer read!
The relationship developed is realistic and the addition of Times of our Seasons was a funny backdrop.
Shakespeare, loss, autism & mystery in a JA novel
    Any additional comments?
This was a "PKK Bookclub" read, which means I read it with my three boys, ages 13 and 11 (the twins). As a lukewarm fan of Ally Condie (really liked Matched, but the next two in the trilogy declined sequentially; I never finished the third book), we read this only because Ms. Condie visited the boys' middle school and sold them the book. I am delighted to report that this book was - GOOD! It deals with death, autism (2 different ways), coming of age and teen-age friendships. Against a lovingly literate backdrop of a Shakespeare Summer Festival, the protagonist grapples with all of the above topics in an endearing journey through her first summer without her dad and her older (autistic) brother. This is a wonderful book for adults and young adults alike.
