I wouldn't recommend to YA readers

This book is in the YA genre but I would never recommend my daughter read it. I thought the relationship between the 2 main characters was destructive and negative and definitely does not provide good modelling. I did think the issue of teen pregnancy was dealt with ok but then the blend with the destructive relationship was concerning. Overall the story was pretty boring. There are so many well written ya books that deal with life and love and this was not one of them. I would give it a pass.

Love at its hardest, messiest times

I really loved "How To Love." This isn't an easy, predictable read; it's love captured at its hardest and messiest times. This book tells the story of a girl, Reena, who always wanted to go everywhere, but instead becomes trapped and goes nowhere and a boy, Sawyer, whose afraid of being left behind and takes off without a word to anyone-takes off for a very long time. After more than two years, he comes back. To say things have changed would be an understatement. Things are very complicated for him and Reena now, but then again, before Sawyer ever left there were a multitude of complications between them. Told in alternating chapters from before Sawyer left and after he returns, Katie Cotugna painfully explores love, patience, guilt and forgiveness and Merritt Hicks does a great job of narrating it all. This is my favorite kind of young adult novel-one that's well-written, authentic, emotional and will appeal to adults of all ages.

AMAZING.

Perfect ending.

And really I have to rave not just about the book but about the audiobook narration. Merrit Hicks was perfect for the voice of Reena. She also nailed Sawyer and Soledad. One of the great things she does is give you the action with the emotion - if the character is giggling, she giggles the dialogue. If the character sighs, she sighs. That can be a thing that's totally overdone - but here, it's just perfect.

I can't wait to own a physical copy of this book. I couldn't put it down and even slowed down the audio from 1.25 (which really worked for the cadence) to 1.0 for the last 5 chapters because I just didn't want it to end. I loved these characters. I loved this story. I loved this book.

I love love love it. The book is amazing and wonderful.

I definitely didn't love this story.

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

Nope - the heroine's personality was just not that interesting. Or was it the hero's personality that left little to be desired? Both. It was definitely both.

I like Rachel Gibson, even though her hockey team series was so much like Susan Elizabeth Phillips' football team series, I still think her writing can be cute and fun. This story was just boring.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Tanya Eby?

I don't know, it's tough. Anna Fields would have been great. (RIP Anna) Tanya just has a lisp or something that she does with her s's. It's tough to get into a hero that has a lisp (especially one that isn't that interesting to begin with) you know what I mean?

A beautiful and sexy love story...

This book picks up right where Rescue Me ends. Sadie finds out she has a sister she didn't know about and her boyfriend Vince asks his friend Beau to find that sister and see if she wants to meet Sadie. Said sister is Stella who lives in Miami and works as a bartender. This is a road trip story. Stella and Beau embark on a trip from Miami to Lovett, TX to go meet Sadie. That road trip turns into a love story with lots and lots of sexual tension. I just wish it was a longer book. Really liked it!!

Omg this narrator is annoying!

I can't stand the narrator- definitely won't purchase again if she is reading. Her male voice is ridiculous.

Great Story - Just wish it were longer!

I loved this story about Stella, the smart and sassy heroine and Beau, the ex-Marine sent to bring her to Texas to meet her half sister. Together they make a sweet couple both with endearing, but irritating personality quirks. The story seemed to go by quickly because these two were so cute together and I kept wishing that the story was longer!

Struggling to Finish

I am only part way through this book and feel like I might not be able to finish. It is just boring. I don't get the attraction between Marissa and Nash. The narration is lack lustre at best. I hate when Benjamin Darcie does the female roles he just does not do well and I agree with other reviews that he does not have a strong male voice either. I also cant get around the fact that the author did not change narrators for this book. Honestly I keep trying to figure out who is talking Nash or Cash, Marissa or Olivia. They are exactly the same. Now as I said I am only 1/2 way through the book and it is boring. There is not even hot steamy scenes to help it along. They keep talking about the same thing over and over again. Revenge and how poor Nash had to hide away. We get it he is bitter but get over it already. This entire series was good but not great. I think the first book had just enough to tweak your interest in the 2nd book and then by the end of the 2nd you feel like you may as well get the third. So far not this was not a wise choice on my part. Sometimes quitting while you are ahead is a better option.

The bad boys are back!

Unfortunately this is the end of the bad boys series and all I can say is WOW! What a way to go! This time the story focuses on Nash- the super sexy alpha brother. Who knew he could be sexier then Cash? I wasn't sure about Marissa's total character transformation but in the end I really did like her.

My only complaint is with the narration. Don't get me wrong, it was great! However, it was a little confusing with the same narrators from the previous books. Mr. Darcie is Cash and Ms. Rudd is Olivia - hearing them as Nash and Marissa made my head spin. Otherwise, this was a great listen!

Disappointed ending of this series

The male narrator. He did not sounds 'manly' enough for Nash or Cash.

This book is not as good as the first 2 books in the series. While it gave good conclusion to the whole series, the story of Nash and Marissa was not hot or steamy. In my opinion, this book fell short. It did explained a lot about Nash/Cash and their father's story.

I found this book interesting because it shows us Nash's perspective of things. However, I felt this book was a little more unrealistic in the sense that Marissa changed into a different person overnight.

What better way to kick off December than a holiday audiobook!!! Caroline Mickelson is a storytelling wonder when it comes to feel good romantic comedies. She does a great job of developing characters and feeding the story to the reader in bits...leaving them wondering and wanting more. She develops characters in a way that makes the reader care about the outcome. This audiobook is perfect to listen to while shopping or wrapping presents or any other holiday task.

A cute comedic play on Christmas.

A nice evening story about a family in need. Another family who helps people. A funny twist on the Claus family.

It was good but nothing memorable to stand out.

Playing to Win is the fourth book in Jaci Burtons Play by Play series, Cole Riley hasnt been able to find his place with a football teams. After being traded to his 3rd NFL Team, Cole needs to clean up his image. In comes Savannah Brooks, a Georgia Peach whos an expert at making over an image. Cole doesn't think that theres anything wrong with his image. If his image is tainted, its because of the media, not him. Savannahs job is to convince Cole to learn how to be less self absorbed and become a team player if he wants to have a long career with the Traders. I really like this series. I felt like something was missing for me in this book. I could not connect with their relationship. I liked Cole and Savannah as individuals but wasn't completely sold on the chemistry and the attraction. What I want between the hero and heroines is hot, sizzling chemistry with a little angst thrown in. There was none of that. Cole and Savannah together was very blah. Cole wasn't happy about having Savannah underfoot, making over his image and I expected more conflict. I wanted passionate, heated arguments. There were arguments but they felt flat. Playing to Win was an ok read. Some parts were boring and I felt that we never found out why Cole closed himself off from people. I'm not sure if I want to give up or continue with the series yet.

This books did not do the rest justice. Very lack luster. I like Burton but this did not cut it.

Loved it!

Loved it! They are cracked but, together not broken. The traditional HEA. The narrator was spot on. And, they complete the story. well worth the credit, can't wait for the next one.

LOVE the Series-but pretty disappointed w/This One

I absolutely LOVE the series and will continue reading if the series continues. However, this book seemed to take forever to get to any action and then it just seemed to stall.

Time well spent-ehhh. I was so looking forward to this (pre-ordered as soon as available) so my disappointment was amplified-because of my anticipation.

Will I listen again? Probably-but there are many more above it on my second listen list (especially given narrator).but pretty disappointed with this one.

Enjoyable Seriea

Like the narrator's and. characters in story. Moving on to third book and hoping for the ending I want.

Love hurts

Bryn and William seem to never get a break. When Bryn realizes what her gift is, she runs, leaving heartbreak and anger in her wake. She also makes herself vulnerable to John's people and a smattering of putting herself in positions that just make her look bad with the Hayward family, especially Patrick who never lets Bryn forget what she has led everyone believe about her.

This story was interesting and I loved the twists and turns it it. I especially loved seeing Patrick develop and his and Bryn's love / hate relationship. It is comical at times.

It is worth the listen.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

After a bit, hearing "Hell Yeah" or a variation of it over and over makes my eye twitch and teeth grind. I have issues with the weak or adolescent protagonist who just needs to mature to realize their own significance. The story becomes sucked into their own internal whiny neurosis.

What about Dina Pearlmans performance did you like?

Did fine.

Could you see Sentinels being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

No, well maybe on some version of CW teen vampire- blah, blah, blah.

As I've stated, I avoid a certain type of character. If you like the early Rachel Morgan from the Hollows series then this is fine for you. Like Kim Harrison's main character, this one loses the cool kick butt persona for habitual "oops I guess that was highly stupid and insensitive to others. Sowwy."

HOT, SEXY, SWEET

What did you like best about this story?

The pure innocence of Megan was just so tender, but her desire and passion for what she believed showed her true strength. Rico was just as hot and adorable with his straight forward demeanor. I really love the chemistry between Megan and Rico, it was one thing that kept me so interested in the story line.

What about Avery Glymphs performance did you like?

Avery voice added to the overall feel of pure desire in the story line. I love the way he switch between the two characters. He really pulled you into the hot, desire demonstrated between Rico and Megan.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

yes, I purchased Susan Deneker's JoAnn Ross reads and got hooked on this author. All the stories by this reader and S.D. are worth the listening time. Good story, romance and dialogue. So many listens today are so very dark! This is up lifting and makes you feel good while you are listening. Isn't that what a good listen is all about?

Who was your favorite character and why?

Our heroine, she is just a lovely breath of fresh air. This author captures the spirit it takes to make you just plain what to keep listening. With over 100 books J.R. has written, I hope Audible, gets more of them. They mysteries, were hot, fast and with great dialogue.

Which character as performed by Sophie Eastlake was your favorite?

Mary! Ms Eastlake is not my fave reader, but when she does an Aussie, Irish or Scott accent, she is FABULOUS.

What a waste of my credit

This book wasnt for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

This was listed under romance and I listened to this book for hours and never heard anything close to romance. A kiss does not count. It was so long and so dull. I won't be listening to the other books.

THOUGH NOT REALLY ROMANTIC IT HAD A GOOD STORY AND IF YOU LIKE MYSTERY ITS WORTH IT.

TOO LONG FOR ONE SITTING BUT ENJOYABLE IN TWO.

A real snoozer.

Don't waste your money. I found this book to be real boring could not finish every time I would start to listen to it,I would fall asleep.
