A bit predictable and drawn out...

3.5 stars -- Well that synopsis is horribly short. After such a major cliffhanger, I didn't realize that I never went on to find out what happened next (probably b/c this book wasn't out yet), so this was my first read through! I find that while I'm still really interested in Mari and Trystan, I'm not sure if this style of serial novella series is for me. It feels like not enough happens in each book, and I don't know if it's just me, but these books definitely feel shorter than the 200 pages they claim to be. It takes me less than 2 hours to read them. So it doesn't feel really satisfying.

I will say that I was kind of disappointed in the predictability of the story -- totally saw what was going to happen with Brie. Totally called Trystan briefly trying to push Mari away. Sometimes I don't mind a predictable storyline, but I might not be in the right frame of mind for it right now, kwim? But I'm invested at this point, so I will finish this, I just doubt I will bother getting involved in any more of these kinds of series by this author. It's just not to my *personal* taste.

After the ending of Riptide, I could not wait to start Shattered, and it definitely started off with a bang! The beginning was really intense and had my heart in my throat as I was reading. Unfortunately, that was the best part.

After these events, both Trystan and Mari are all messed up, and Trystan tries to push Mari away, believing heâs not good enough for her. This really bugs me in books (movies/television/etc). I canât stand when both people care for each other, but one tries to push the other away for âhis/her own goodâ. So frustrating!

Mariâs parents were as frustrating as ever in this book. Seriously, both of them are just such jerks that I wanted to reach through the pages and punch them both. And Brie is back to her old tricks. Ugh!

The ending didnât come as a huge surprise, but I was interested to see how it would pan out.

GREAT INSTALLMENT!!!

Loved it! Mari tries to help Trystan and it all back fires. Will these two recover from this tragedy? I can't help but wish that Trystan and Mari will have a HEA. After what Trystan has gone through in his life and Mari being the girl of his dreams. A great read. I couldn't put the book down. I am sooooo ready for book #5!!!

Another interesting twist in the plot!

I love this series... As I find myself cheering for Trystan and Mari, each twist and turn in the plot has me on the edge of my seat. Mari saves Trystan by calling the police before someone ends up getting killed. Tristan is filled with guilt because Mari gets hurt, but doesn't want to talk to the police about what happened because he is trying to keep his dysfunctional home life a secret. This isn't good enough though, because Mari's parents want to press charges and want her to stay away from Trystan.

Meanwhile, Brie is up to no good and shows up at Mari's house...

My first audio book review!!! :) Here's to many more! Now on to business... Gregory Salinas has a lovely voice. I wouldn't mind him following me around an narrating what I'm doing. That would be pretty awesome! At times when he was reading as the men his voice became a bit mechanical but it either stopped or I got used to it because I didn't notice it as much toward the end. Moving on to the writing-I am not sure how I haven't read this one from Jayne yet. I've read most of her books and I have this on my signed shelves but I guess I missed reading it. lol While I can tell that it is one of her earlier works she still has that same Jayne sparkle shining through. Started off with some seriously HOT sex on the roof of a car and moved into a threesome. It was a bit cheesy at times but that happens in most romance. The steamy hot sex makes up for the cheesy times though cause it's seriously smoking hot. There is also a bit of nerd factor going on with lots of technical aspects surrounding an invention they are trying to protect. If you want to give audiobooks or Jayne a try this is a great way to start!

Wickedly Delicious!!

What a yummy fun read!! It kicks things of fairly quickly, wicked little roadside steam!!! This is a very smexy read, loads of steam and variety packed into this short read. I love a hot twin menage!! Oh girl, forget the panties cause you will just have to change them later!

Even though the feeling develop quickly I am willing to let it slide, sometimes lust feels like love. And hey this is fantasy, ain't nobody got time to build a relationship!! Still, I felt the liking and the connection between the three.

The story is very well written and fast paced. The side mystery is interesting without being overly complicated.

Another reader. I had to abandon the story within the first 15 minutes because the narration was so bad.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Emma Galvin?

Almost anyone. Her style was practically monotonic and she paused after every second or third word regardless of natural phrasing. I'll NEVER listen to any book narrated by this individual again!

This was a light, entertaining book. The story flowed well and kept my interest.

What didnt you like about Emma Galvins performance?

The narrator doesn't seem to understand the purpose of periods and commas. There were many times that the end of one sentence became part of the next sentence, changing the meaning. If you record the next book in the series, please use a different narrator.

What makes a family.

Family is at the core of A Perfect Fit. Cami's world is rocked by grief and revelations. In her case secrets come in fours and the hits keep coming. Family growing pains tumble over into business. Her once orderly world has been thrown into chaos of the worst kind. Heather Tullis has crafted a journey of self discovery that scandalizes and surprises. Ms. Gilbert does a wonderful job of voicing the inner turmoil and angst of a woman finding her way through the storm.

Story was good, performance was lacking

The story was well done and had lots of backstory that made the reader feel like the characters were people in real life. You wanted to feel invested in the characters and book. I liked that the storyline kept you on your toes too, it was a good mix of action, love and anger. The title was right on...a perfect fit.

The performance for me wasn't the best but I have also heard much worse. It wasn't so bad that I couldn't listen and I have had those books that I just couldn't listen too. The part that got to me was the drawn out way the narrator tried to read when there was drama. It just seemed like it was trying too hard and over produced.

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

very entertaining

this was a great book, twisted but fun. it's crazy how they all end up living together. I loved the characters and the chemistry between the sisters was great, however I didn't feel the tug with Vince and Cami was all that strong. but I loved the book and the narration was fabulous! can't wait for the next!

Just the reader. Her performance was clear but her rhythm was horrible. You could not tell who was speaking or when the scene changed. She has a great voice. Maybe this was one of her first readings. I love this book I own it in Audible, paperback, Nook, and on Kindle.

Would you consider the audio edition of At First Sight to be better than the print version?

If youve listened to books by Patrice Wilton before, how does this one compare?

This is my first P.W. listen. She had a good outline and story to tell. However, this story is not my taste for heroines. I like strong women who know how to make a choice. If you like stories where the heroine is trying to find her path, then this is for you. Our hero is a man trying to re define his life and author portrays his story well. Too much indecision on the part of our heroine for me. Ms Wilton, get a better editor. A good editor could help you reach your full potential as you have a good imagination/story to tell.

How could the performance have been better?

I am not a fan of this reader. Her male voice is her only redeeming quality for me. Reader followed the author's read very well, she is just not my taste for lot of books to own.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Several, which is why this book could have used a bit better editing to be great. When Sam our hero dog helps in two fights. When our hero tries to go out to buy coffee on his own. Ms Wilton, you have what it takes.

Any additional comments?

I purchased as this was a story about a blind person trying to over come. The cost is good so give this book a try. I did enjoy the parts when the heroine is strong and direct.

Enjoyed the story but the ending didn't tie up the loose ends. To many questions left unanswered. That being said I would read another book by this author.

Funny, sexy, a solid story line and well written.

It's official. I'm addicted and it only took the first few chapters of the first book. This is a really good story! The series follows Jennifer and Alex, two characters who are likeable, lovable, and very easy to understand. Jennifer is quick-witted and she isnt afraid to speak her mind, all the while being a sophisticated woman who knows exactly what she wants. Alex is a humbled man who will surprise you with his sincerity. Suffice it is to say that I couldnt put the series down until I finished it. Jennifer and her best friend Lisa have recently moved away from Maine (and Jennifer's abusive parents) to start their life in New York. However, Jennifer seems to be unable to find a job, even with her MBA. In a pinch and quickly running out of money, Jennifer applies for a secretarial position at Wenn Enterprises. This is when she meets the outspoken Ms. Blackwell. Who ends up being HILARIOUS! Jennifer's life takes an unexpected turn after she runs into a stranger on her worst day ever. The stranger ends up being the CEO of Wenn (Alex). Neither are prepared for their reaction to one another, and neither understands what their connection will hold in the days and months to come. Performance so poor it distracts from the story

What didnt you like about Justine Eyre and Will Damron s performance?

I understand the logic behind using a male and female voice for the characters but there was no consistency. The book changed POV from chapter to chapter and instead of adding to the story it distracted me from it. For example: Male voice, Female in male voice, than Female voice, Male in Female voice. I understand the book was written this way, but the performance could have executed it better. Mr. Damron's imitation of the lead female was far more tolerable (and preferable) than Ms. Eyre's performance. Ivy's longing for Archer (from her POV) came off as irritating and petulant. This performance put me on edge and I had a headache after the first hour.

Good story but...

I enjoyed the story but the girl's voice made me cringe. I couldn't stand it but kept listening because of the story line. However, I did like the man's voice.

So far, this has definitely been the best of the series. I loved this book...probably just because Christian and Brayden have had such a long relationship. She had been part of the family since she ran away from her family in her teens. To the other Kinncaid brothers, she's like a sister, which is why Brayden is so discombobulated by his new sexual feelings for her. He doesn't know what to do with this, but knows he doesn't want to do anything that could threaten Christian's standing in the family, so he steps back from his feelings for her. Something she does not appreciate at all.

I liked the by-play between Christian and Brayden at the beginning and LOVED how she stood up to him. She's always been there for him in raising his daughter Tori and just assumes that she always will be, no matter what happens between them emotionally. I love that she stood up to him on that and showed him that he couldn't take advantage of her. And watching her entire life-story unfold was heartbreaking. She's been through so much and has come out as such a strong character. I loved her.

And with this entire series...Kinncaid men...one word- YUMMY! Brayden doesn't change that at all. I love these guys and how protective they are and how they all work together to protect their women...including Ian, the black sheep who always shows up to help out. (I can't wait for his story!)

And, as always, Johanna Parker was AMAZING at her narration. I love her voices...both male and female. They work for me and she is definitely up there as one my favorite narrators.

Where does Deadly Obsession rank among all the audiobooks youve listened to so far?

Well, as far as Romantic Suspense goes it ranks pretty high. I am a big fan of romance, but when romance is mingled with some explicit sex scenes, sitting on the edge of your seat suspense and true tenderness then it doesn't get any better.
