They discuss the tortured (male) artist and take a look at early Neptunes before Mike makes the distinction between 8 grade him and the ottawa kid and they try to get Party Next Door’s age straight. Top of the Hour comes around and they answer some questions before discussing ageism and longevity in rap and contrasting it with other genres. They discuss signs and taking heed when the universe is trying to get your attention and move on to the art of the radio freestyle and the realities of the long term relationship. They cover scary figures and play an all-around indecent game before choosing a name for the episode and examining exactly why Eminem sucks now. S02e67 is out and this one features host and creator of The Fade Podcast Kwabz! They kick things off by talking tv consumption and then the ins and outs when it comes to sex (every pun intended) before debating best producers of all time. They talk emblematic rap albums, women running hip hop, the birth of the genre and the career of Missy Elliott before hitting Top of the Hour for Q&A just for fun. They get really real about the state of the Montreal music landscape in all its facets, examine the gender politics surrounding pubic hair and ultimately disagree on the dopeness of Gang Starr. To kick things off they talk beginnings and endings and Markings tells the tale of being too big for his britches before he and Navid give some background into their relationship and its rocky start. Navid talks mental health and anxiety, he and Markings tell the story of a podcast appearance that wasn’t meant to be and everyone talks artistry and the motivation behind it before ‘Top of the Hour’ hits for Q&A. They talk the art of MCing and Navid gives a horror story of working a bar mitzvah and tells us about hosting Mural Fest before everyone talks monetizing your passions and how to maintain the fire. Navid tells us about his beginnings with music, an early passion for wrestling and his work as a barber that goes way beyond cutting hair.
