This week, we talk all about the buck Garrett arrowed on the back end of our rut vacation named "Crunch", the widest buck we have ever managed to bowhunt and kill. We share what made the hunt so special, from our entrance strategy, hanging and hunting a new set on its first hang, and how to kill mature bucks with a decoy. Crunch marks the 4th buck we have killed in the last 3 years over the top of a decoy, and hunting with a buck decoy has become one of our favorite strategies for hunting during the rut!

BBD! Logan and Ali kill a buck they call "Stronghand" during the seeking phase of the rut in Illinois! After hunting for 5 days during the recent heatwave, they are able to capitalize in the early morning on a buck, and are able to recover him just a short ways from the stand after an awesome shot!

Big buck down! Garrett and I talk through the strategy of using a decoy. We discuss how we use this hunting strategy, as well as how we position it in the wind given it's direction. After that, we break down how we recently killed a buck in November called "K2" and how we made it happen! Using a decoy can be a great strategy for bowhunting mature whitetails that can certainly work big-time. This is the 3rd year in a row we have killed a mature buck over the back of a decoy, and we are definitely going to be using this tactic in the future. Thanks for listening!

BBD!!! Jesse hops on the phone with me to discuss the buck he killed yesterday morning on November 1st! Over the past week, Jesse and Matt have had a deer they call "Chavez" daylighting (several times per day)...going into kill him, he is chased away by a coyote...soon after, Jesse's buck steps out and faces them, on the ground, at 25 yards, with no blind!!!! HUNTROVERSY!!! If you haven't heard lately, Pope & Young, as well as Boone & Crockett are no longer allowing entries when using the aid of a cellular trail camera. However, we think that there are far superior ways to aid in the taking of big game animals, one of them being a crossbow. We give our opinions about why we think crossbows are just as deadly as cell cameras, yet are still allowed for entries in the Boone and Crockett record system. Why is that???
