After another disappointing week of Ottawa Senators hockey, there are lots of things to break down. The Sens are now 1-6-1 on the season and have lost seven in a row. Today, Spencer Blake joins Alex as the two discuss what went wrong this week. They start by looking over each of the three games and what needs to improve. However, what all went right or is encouraging too. Players like Nick Paul, Drake Batherson, and even Nikita Zaitsev continue to impress.
From there, they take a look at the Ottawa Senators lineup decisions and if DJ Smith is on the hot seat. Spencer and Alex highlight reasons why he maybe should be, or why he isn't. As well, they discuss Pierre Dorion in the same light and the Sens use of analytics. Alex has worries it may not be the most ideal way they're being used. They quickly preview a busy week or so for Ottawa coming up and what needs to change for them to jump back into the win column. Tune in for all of that and more, with the Last Word on Sens podcast.

This week, the guys talk about the Habs two-game set against the Calgary Flames. In what felt like a month between games, the Canadiens had their home opener and looked to keep their hot start going. While the Habs looked like the better team through the two games, as Habs fans know all too well, a hot goalie is a great equalizer. Now it's time to see how the Habs bounce back after their first regulation loss.
The guys then discuss the Dillon Dube hit on Jesperi Kotkaniemi. Both hosts feel that it should have been a penalty because it was a hit to the head. This leads to a larger discussion of headshots in general and potential solutions to help limit these kinds of hits in the future. One thing is for sure, these hits can't keep happening.
Then the guys indulge in more hockey rumors. With Pittsburgh Penguins general manager Jim Rutherford resigning this week, seemingly out of nowhere, speculation is that the Penguins might be looking to rebuild. So would the Penguins consider moving on from Sidney Crosby or Evgeni Malkin? If so, how much fun would it be to see Crosby in a Habs uniform?
All this and Victor Mete, Brendan Kelly, opening ceremony, cold weather, and much much more!
TUNE IN!

The guys are back and have a very busy slate of news to discuss. First, they look at the Patrik Laine for Pierre-Luc Dubois trade that happened last week. It broke right after they recorded so they are only now giving their opinions on it. The guys take a look at the trade from both team's view, discussing why it has the potential to be a win for both sides. However, they also discuss why it has the potential to backfire on either side in this mix. From there, they take a look at Jim Rutherford stepping down and what shocking news it was.
Discussing if the Penguins job is still a tempting one to take or not. As well as what they should do from here on out. Go for it? Rebuild? Alex and Chace discuss it all. Finally, they take a look at the Kevin Fiala hit and suspension. Discussing whether they think it was the right amount of games or not, as well as talking about the NWHL and their week so far.
In this episode of the Necessary Roughness Podcast, host Nikolas Donadic dives into the NFL Championship weekend matchups. He also rants about the inconsistency of the referees in the Buccaneers-Packers game, wonders why Steve Spagnuolo never got his second chance to be a head coach, and floats a wild Washington Football Team-Falcons-Texans trade scenario that could shake up the complexion of the entire NFC. Nik also takes a look back at the history of the show, and gets a little bit personal, in celebration of our 100th episode! Enjoy the show and join us on Saturday for the following episode!

Alex is back with another week of Ottawa Senators' action to break down. Today, he has Derek Lee joining him to do so! The two start by taking a look at the latest three games against the Winnipeg Jets where the Sens only managed to take one of six points. Dissecting what went wrong and what all they believe needs to be changed from a lineup perspective, Alex and Derek go game by game. From there, they switch to some highlights from the series including the play of Nick Paul and Nikita Zaitsev.
Finally, they look ahead to tonight in what will be the return of Tim Stützle against the Vancouver Canucks. The Canucks are hurting right now and these next three games could be an opportunity to take back some much-needed points. Tune in for all of that and more, with the Last Word on Sens Podcast!

This week, the guys talk about the high octane Montreal Canadiens. The Habs offensive output this young season is the best in the league. After years of struggling to score goals and sweat out games, the guys find it refreshing to see the Habs scoring goals, almost at will. All the new additions have made an impact so far. For GM Marc Bergevin, it's been as perfect a start he could have wished for. It's been a very fun start of the season for Habs fans.
Still, there are things the Habs need to work on. The Habs are taking way too many penalties and their penalty kill has been a bit suspect. The Habs discipline has been a major part of their two losses this year.
Then the guys talk about the big trade of the week between the Winnipeg Jets and Columbus Blue Jackets. The guys talk about some of the takes they saw online about the move and about the players. Who was to blame for these players wanting out of their teams? The biggest takeaway is that these players might be right back in the same situation in 12 months from now.
All this and Phillip Danault Talk, Victor Mete's future with the team, the Habs opening ceremonies, honoring the front line workers, the Habs crazy schedule, and much much more!

The guys are back and once again there is hockey to discuss! Alex and Chace focus on some early storylines from this NHL Season. Discussing the Ian Cole trade and why Alex doesn't like it. As well, what has happened with the Vancouver Canucks? A team that both Alex and Chace weren't super high on as performed way below expectations. And it's not just the minor players not playing well enough.
They discuss a Pierre-Luc Dubois trade and why benching him made sense. This was before the massive blockbuster for Patrik Laine was pulled off. So those thoughts will be on next week's episode of the MnM Hockey Podcast. Finally, Alex and Chace take a look at what's happening in the Central, East, and West divisions in this early season. Including players on the COVID Protocol list and how it might affect their team going forward. Plus, they discuss if there are any better ways to deal with COVID outbreaks other than cancelling games.
