Once you see … you cannot unsee. A beautiful and sometimes tragic fact of life.

A poem I wrote earlier this month entitled, “A Few Inches Above”. Sometimes in life, we try and keep our head above water or just a few inches above to get a better perspective.

Life, at times, can be a brutal journey full of adversity and hurdles so monumental it seems like they are insurmountable… but keep going. Don’t worry about anything else but trying to survive and by pushing yourself to keep moving forward.

This poem is about the anticipation of creating a portrait. Having all these emotions, feelings and energy swirling inside and then finally unleashing it all and letting the creativity flow from your body and soul to the canvas… it’s beyond magical.

Sometimes, if you’re lucky enough, you can feel an invisible thread that cuts through the reality of life and connects you to your destiny, your person or your purpose. And every so often and sometimes more times than you expect, you feel that pull of the thread, and the connection calls you. I think it is a beautiful thing for it is a reminder that your destiny is something bigger than your day-to-day life. It calls you to the place where you truly belong. I feel mine pull constantly … sometimes the temptation is to fight it. But don’t. It’s leading you to something more beautiful than you could ever imagine.

A true story about throwing rocks into the ocean on a peaceful sunny day with a blue sky. A very happy memory that fills my heart with warmth. I can almost feel the warm sun on my skin.

Reflecting on the sadness that happens to people who really love deeply and it’s the ones that you’re connected with the deepest that are the hardest to live without.

Sometimes deep connection is a destiny you can’t escape. It’s a rare thing that few truly experience.
