Late Night Reads episodes

  • The Mist Thief by LJ Andrews

In this episode, we dive into the romantasy book The Mist Thief by LJ Andrews. This is the third book in The Ever Seas series. The series also includes The Ever King, The Ever Queen, and The Stolen Crown (available in October 2026). We’ve covered all three of the released books in the series so far and will deep dive into The Stolen Crown once it comes out.

During this episode, we discuss how we couldn’t wait to read about Jonas ever since he first came on the page in The Ever King, why Skadi is such a fascinating character, how much we despised Arion and Cian, why we think Mira likes to poke the Tait-bear, why it’s impossible not to love Jonas and his entire family, the countless ways Jonas went above and beyond for Skadi before their relationship turned romantic, and how we can’t wait to read the next book after that cliffhanger at the end. Plus, we discuss our theories about why the Otherworld has been mentioned so many times, why we think Mira and Tait are really at odds, what could’ve caused the ship to wreck, and who we’re hoping to see get future books in the series.

  • Author Interview: Rebecca Robinson

In this episode, we’re joined by Rebecca Robinson to chat about The Dark Inheritance Trilogy. This series consists of The Serpent and the Wolf as well as The Wicked and the Damned. We discuss where the idea for this series came from, how long it took her to write each book, the massive spreadsheet she has to track everything, how Vaasa’s character has evolved in the first two books and where she’s headed, what’s really going on with Roman, why Sutherland might be someone we know (we got theories on this one!), if witches can accumulate powers from other witches, if we’ll learn how Zetyr and Veragi got inside Ozik and Amalie, and a few teasers for the final book in the series.

    About Rebecca Robinson

By day, Rebecca Robinson works as an educator. By night, she’s an avid reader, writer, and consumer of all things art. When she’s not writing, Rebeccca loves to cook, spend time with her family, and lounge in the garden.

  • Rules for the Summer by Meghan Quinn

In this episode, we dive into the contemporary romance book, Rules for the Summer, by Meghan Quinn.

During this episode, we discuss how the banter in this book was top-notch, why one of us wants to become a hobby horse influencer, how Aunt Kitty is something else, how much we adored the growth of Theo’s character throughout the book, why Rupert’s antics are completely unforgettable, how no one should ever wear shoes with tassels or boat shoes, and why this book is the perfect summer read. Plus, we can’t forget about the spice, and this book has lots of unexpected spicy scenes. We’re giving this romcom a four pepper rating.

  • Author Interview: Jules Kyle

In this episode, we’re joined by the duo writing team behind Jules Kyle. We discuss how they got started writing together, why they’re passionate about showing diverse characters in their books, how they came up with the idea for the series and this book, how spice is tied to character development, the importance of showcasing a character facing infertility challenges, and what they plan to write next.

Hopelessly Yours is available on Amazon, Kindle Unlimited, and their online store. Also, make sure to check out the first book in The Wexstone Royals series, Royally Yours.

And check out their Kickstarter for the audiobook duet narration for Royally Yours.

    About Jules Kyle

Jules Kyle came to be when two internet friends decided to write a rom-com together. Once upon a time, two Millennial women joined a Facebook group for fans of Sarah J. Maas novels. In late 2022, Khrystian posted in the group asking if anyone would be interested in writing a book with her. Stephie saw the post, paused, scrolled past, scrolled back up, repeated this about 15 times, and finally responded. The two immediately clicked, started writing, and–as the saying goes–the rest is history.

Steph (Aka Jules) is a full-time food writer and recipe developer who lives in Illinois with her husband, daughter, and menagerie of cats and dogs. When she’s not at her computer or in her kitchen, you can probably find her in her sewing room or (unsurprisingly) with her nose in a book.

Khrystian (Aka Kyle) is a photographer who lives wherever the Navy tells her to (currently the D.C. area) with her husband, daughter, and their dog and cat. You can usually find her with a Diet Coke in her hand and a smutty audiobook on her AirPods.

In this episode, we dive into the romantasy book, Bespelled by Laura Thalassa. This is the second book in the Bewitched series. The series also includes Bewitched, The Curse That Binds, and Bedeviled (available in August 2026).  We’re covering all books in the series on the podcast over the next few months.

During this episode, we discuss Memnon’s hilarious reaction when he goes to get Selene out of jail, how we’re extremely suspicious of everything Memnon says and does, why we believe there is more to the lycans than they’re sharing with Selene, why we’re very curious about how often Memnon uses his memory wiping capabilities, and how we need to know what Memnon is doing when he takes a while to get to Selene sometimes.  Plus, we have more unhinged theories about what’s really going on with the mate bond between Memnon and Selene, why we’re convinced Kane is also her mate, how we’re convinced Selene is pregnant, and so much more.
