This week brought with it big changes, with Bill Morneau stepping down as Minister of Finance and Chrystia Freeland stepping right in to that position. Following a big week in US politics, this is a big one here in Canada, as people are trying to sort out who she is if you don't already know, and whether or not this is a good decision.

I go through the good, the bad and the 2020 of this decision, and add my opinions on this massive decision, which may be the last big choice to make before the potential snap election this coming fall. 

Once again This Week In Stupid returns with some jovial stories from around the world, and I day dream on the microphone about the potential to be talking directly with folks on the podcast in the new studio before the year is out.

Earlier today a massive explosion rocked Beirut, the capital city of Lebanon. With new details still emerging I start this week by giving an update on what we know already, and what news has broken over the last few hours, right up until the minute of publishing this episode.

Since last week there have been many questions about my opinions on aliens, so I also decided to give the people what they want and answer the question "Do you believe in aliens?"

Finally the main topic of the week is cent erred on the announcement this past week that students in Ontario will be returning to school in September, with some restrictions like masks and isolation from different classrooms. I think it's a good idea to review the different ideas of how this can be done, and analyze the risks involved with sending our children back together in a school environment.

The world was turned upside down this past Thursday when the New York Times released a piece confirming that the U.S. Senate has been continuing to fund a research team into what they are now calling "unidentified aerial phenomena" the new term for U.F.O.

This week I go through the article and analyze what has been revealed, what may soon be revealed and any political or ulterior motives behind the release of this information right now.

The White House has released a federal police force on protestors in portland, and have announced more cities are to come. The events are a major set back to American society right now, and there is nothing else that we can cover other than this major development in the land of the "free". This is not being coverred by the mainstream media, and it needs to be discussed.

 

To lighten the mood though there are a number of new dumb stories, and I have to tell you all about my incredible hatred for eight legged freaks.

This week Ottawa has been embroiled in yet another scandal, this time involving the Canadian charity "We". With information coming out only hours before publish, this is the most up to the minute report on what has happened, and what it all means so far. Will the Prime Minister need to step down? Is his apology enough?

As well this week I answer the question "Is silence equal to being complicate?" The question was raised when a number of famous musicians and actors didn't comment on the racial injustices happening in the U.S. and their supporters wondered if they weren't making comments because they agreed with the murders that were happening on the streets. Is it possible that this was a way of quietly supporting a counter culture position like all lives matter?

On Independence day this past week, Kanye West announced that he will be running for president of the United States. Yeezy 2020! There are a number of questions floating about that I want to answer, and who knows maybe it's a good idea to get used to saying President West, or First Lady Kim Kardashian. This year is never going to end!

There have also been a number of statues pulled down and dragged to the river, and I've put off discussing the topic specifically because I haven't known exactly which side I agree with here. After the most recent statue of Christopher Columbus was knocked over, I think it's worth talking about and starting to have a public debate on how to appropriately remove these structures if the local tax payers don't want them there anymore.

This week came with some awesome personal news, and some more positive results around the globe with different places starting to reopen and some normalcy beginning to take hold. With that excitement in mind this week is a great time to reflect on what 2020 might look like moving on from here!

How might some businesses choose to operate? Will we see employee isolation like the major sports leagues are trying at our local businesses? It's insane to think about, but it may be a reality!

Also there is more race conversation to be had with NASCAR having some major race relation struggles this weekend, which happily ended in a finding of no wrongdoing. However, there is much to learn from this event, and we all need to reflect on how we deal with racism personally moving forward.

After another difficult week, with more unarmed black people dying in the streets at the hands of the police, the most effective thing I think I can do is to discuss the top idea on how to deal with racial discrimination in the police force. Defund the police.

This is a very complicated issue with two main lines of belief, and millions of individuals who all feel slightly differently on whether or not, and how to implement this new strategy of managing police. There's lots to discuss, and a whole lot more to think about. This is another difficult episode, but a necessary one.
