Laugh To Learn Podcast

Jeff Bezos and Sir Richard Branson have both flown their privately owned space craft into space the last two weeks with Blue Origin and Virgin Galactic respectively.

The media has been pitching this as the modern space race, with the three space fairing billionaires each being pitted against one another to determine who will be the "winner". However this seems to me to be the wrong story to write. Space X has had rockets and satellites reaching orbit for years and all three men appear to be very supportive of each others business ventures, rather unlike the Soviet American relationship of the last space race!

Is there an alternative story to be looked into here? And what can we pull to motivate ourselves to be more successful in life by analyzing the success of these three men?

With Canada reopening slowly, but surely, many businesses are sorting through the complicated world of creating new vaccine related policies. Meanwhile employees and customers alike are unsure of their legal rights and the future of mandatory vaccinations is in the spotlight.

This week we read through three different legal experts to find the current legal position that our courts have taken. However we also have to discuss what changes maybe should be made and sort out how to best balance everyone's rights.

The past few weeks have had reports of over 1500 unmarked graves around two different residential schools in Canada. I am both shocked and concerned at how little Canadian's seemed to know about residential schools before this revelation, but more importantly I find myself pushed to offer a positive way we can change the world, given what we have learned from our own destructive past.

This week I set out to provide a way that we can all take the horrible reality laid out before us, and turn it into a global change. How we can actually stand on the moral high ground in international debate and promote equality and an end to other genocidal attempts happening today such as that with the Uyghurs of northern China.

This week a man wielding a knife showed up at Premiere Doug Ford's house and damaged multiple neighbor's vehicles on route to a confrontation with police. This is a big change in Canada as there haven't been many major attempts on the lives of politicians, and the police Chief has admitted worry that this may be the start of more to come.

Also this week the Catholic Church in the US held meetings to determine whether or not to allow politicians (such as president Joe Biden) who support federal funding for abortions, to receive holy communion. This raises bigger questions on the right of the church to use their power to control the president and other politicians professional stances. Should they be allowed to remain tax free if they use their position to influence the president?

The current minority government is attempting to pass through amendments to powers of the CRTC, which would expand it's powers online specifically around user generated content. This may have significant impact on freedom of speech and expression here in Canada, and this is likely going to be the first of many discussions around this controversial legislation.

Also this week, if things in politics couldn't get crazier, the Ontario government passed a law using the rarely seen notwithstanding clause. After a superior court justice called the proposed act unconstitutional, citing the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, the bill was passed anyways for a temporary 5 year period! We discuss what the bill is, and how it may have a significant impact on next year's election.

This week, I want to reflect on the current situation between Israel and Palestine and find lessons which we can all learn from the events unfolding. From how social media has responded to the crises, to how everyone has suddenly become an expert on political controversy, there is much to discuss!

Also, I booked my vaccine, and you should too!

This week the Ontario and Alberta governments are investigating options to increase lockdown restrictions and timelines, meanwhile in both Florida and Texas you can do body shots on the beach with state troopers. Why are their numbers so much lower right now? What do we have to look forwards to?

As well this weekend rocket attacks and airstrikes have been raining back and forth between Israel and Palestine. What caused this recent escalation and what can we expect to be the outcome?

This week, there have been growing divisions regarding the vaccines, their effectiveness, and the way they are being distributed. As Canadians look over the southern border, we see millions vaccinated every day, while here most people under 55 are still unable to get theirs.

But first we have some other stories to cover with violence erupting in Colombia, which is nearing bankruptcy as a nation because of the pandemic, along with some fun stories like a video rental from 21 years ago coming back to haunt a woman recently. You know what you’re in for! This is the Laugh to Learn podcast.

Also in June the U.S. Department of Defense will be release a public report on aliens, specifically on all of the videos and evidence the military has recently released about UFOs. What should we expect in this report? and are they really out there?!?
