To the saints at Laurel Canyon church of Christ:
In order "to stir you up by reminding you" (2 Peter 1:13) of the challenges presented in the Sunday morning sermon "52 Days" (Sunday, April 2, 2023 – Tuesday, May 23, 2023):
What Could YOU Do in 52 Days?
• Read Through the Entire New Testament (5 chapters a day); or read through Luke (24 chapters) and Acts (28 chapters) - one chapter a day
• End a Bad Habit, Begin a Good Habit
• Make at Least One Spiritual Contact
What Could THIS Local Church Do in 52 Days?
• Strive for Perfect Attendance
Every Member Increase Their Giving
• Evangelistic Effort by the Local Church
Spend a little quiet time reading the Bible today. Have you decided on a bad habit that you plan to overcome, as well as forming a good habit? Don't forget to start your spiritual contact/prospect list! Did you attend both services on Sunday? Are you planning to sacrifice and increase your giving during the next 52 Days?
Let us have a mind to work (Neh. 4:6). Let us join in a united effort (Neh. 3). Let us, brethren, rise up and build! "Then they set their hands to this good
work."
in Christian love,

How many times have we wished upon a star? Crossed our fingers? Bargained with others in hopes to get our way?
I will not take time to tell you how to get different things you may be wanting. But, I will
take time to tell you about something you should be wanting! Something you should be
desiring with all your heart...
Being OBEDIENT to God’s Will!
So that you may be SAVED from the WRATH of God for the penalty of your sins! That
you may live a life full of GRACE and MERCY! That you may live a life full of time spent
blessing and serving others.
The flaw in the way many look at truth today? _________________________________
Where does God tell us truth comes from? (Jn 17:17) ___________________________
1 Cor. 1:20 – What did God choose to make foolish? ____ ________ __ ____ ______
1 Cor. 1:30 – Jesus Christ became __________ _____ ______
4 TRUTHS to take away today in a world that tries to make its own:
As beautifully stated in Psalms 1, we are blessed when we desire to know God’s willand keep it! Use these truths to fight against the evil in this world!

“It is easier to fool a man than to convince him he has been fooled” -Mark Twain
Though the above quote is not biblical, it aligns itself well with the biblical teachings on deception and the pursuit of truth.
The Importance of Discernment
The Dangers of Deception
The Transformative Power of TRUTH
Let us continually strive to grow in discernment and embrace the truth of God’s Word, ensuring that we are not swayed by deception. Instead, may we be the shining lights in a world that so desperately needs to hope, love, and truth that can only be found in Christ.

UNDERSTANDING TEMPTATION
In 1 John 2:15 we are told: "Do not ____________ the ______________ or the things in the ________________.
IT warns us that if we love it, the _______________ of the ______________ is _____________ in us.
We learn thAT the ______________ of the ________________ , the _________________ of the ________________ and the _________________ of ________________ are not from the Father but from the world.
When we are tempted we must know where that temptation is coming from. Consider James 1:14 and understand temptation comes from ______________ !
THE TEMPTATION OF JESUS
3 Things of note in the opening of Matthew ch. 4:
- Who was Jesus led by to go into the wilderness? ___________________________________
- How long did Jesus fast (go without food)? ___________________________________
- When did Satan approach Jesus? ___________________________________
What are 3 things to learn from the tempting of Jesus?
1 Cor. 10:13 reminds us to look for the ____________ of _____________________ when tempted!
What is one of OUR greatest blessing from JESUS being tempted? (Ref. Heb.4:15)
JAMES 1:1-2 / Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, 3 for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness.
Lord, you know the way. Please take my hand and lead me home.

Luke 8:16 - "No one after _________________ a ______________ covers it with a __________ or puts it under a ___________ but puts it on a _______________ , so that those who enter may see the __________________."
Scripturally speaking, light refers to God, goodness, Christ, the Gospel, etc. When we become Christians we desire to share the "Good News" (The Gospel).
Name 3 things that you feel drain your desire to shine brightly for the Lord:
John 8:12 tells of a way that we can find light for our journey through this dark and sinful world.
Think of the impact Jesus' words must have had on the newly healed blind man as He described Himself as the "light of the world"!
Matthew 25 is an illustration & careful warning to those who plan to live life outside of this light: And cast the worthless servant into the outer _____________________. In that place there will be ___________________ and ___________________ of ________________ . (vs. 30)
""
Paul, shining his light brightly to the Corinthians, reiterates this statement from God: "For God, who said, "Let _______________ shine out of ________________ ," has shone in __________ _________________ to give the ________________ of the knowledge of the glory of God in the ____________ of ________________ __________________ "
Paul was not bashful and was very determined to let his light shine.
How am I going to let my light shine?...

When things seem to get complicated along the way, it's sometimes helpful to start over at the beginning...
When Jesus began preaching publicly in Galilee, His message was simple. He started out with, "__________________ _____ _________ _________________ ______ God is at ____________“
He started with making people realize they were accountable for their sin.
Jesus also taught us in ways to help us grow. List 5 of the Beatitudes:
He helps us recognize areas areas that we might need to work on. (Mt. 5:21-48)
List 2 areas from the text that you need to work on:
As we grow toward maturity as Christians, we will be more aware of our sins and the temptations that lead us there. We will also recognize that JESUS is the ONLY answer for our condition.
And when we remember these things, we should be ready and willing to REPENT of our sins and be Baptized to wash them away. (Acts 2:38)
Remember, It starts with sorrow for our sins...
