  • 80 - 2 Parts of Self-Awareness

    Self-Awareness.

This is the most important element of your leadership. If you understand who you are you can lead well.

I explore two parts of self-awareness, from the research and book by Tasha Eurich.

    1. Internal - how clearly you see yourself, your insights, goals, the impact you have on others.

    2. External- how clearly you see yourself as others see you.

They are independent of each other. Research has shown that having external self- awareness can lead to better relationships with those you lead and you can be a more effective leader.

How do you build self-awareness? Through honest feedback. Need help getting that feedback? Comment below.

  • 79 - Evaluate This Year & Plan for the Next
It's the end of October. Let's look back and evaluate how e have done this year and use it to plan the next. Take a look at the year. Look at January. Did you have resolutions? Have some goals? Did you have a word for your year? Did you set a resolution? Can you check them off? Why or why not? You still have a few months to check them off? What were your goals you set for yourself? Reevaluate those goals, maybe they were too easy or things changed. How do you need to adjust and be honest with yourself. What about a word? Did you have a word for the year? How did your word work for you? Evaluate your growth as a leader. How did you start the year? Where are you now? Now as you look toward next year ask the following questions. 1. What worked? 2. What did not work? Get rid of it. 3. What do I need to start doing? 4. What do I need to stop doing? Take some time to evaluate where you are and where you want to go for the rest of the year and next.

  • 75 - Executive Presence: Appearance

    Executive Presence: Appearance

    1. Gravitas
    2. Communication
    3. Appearance *

Two elements that affect your appearance.

    • Fitness. Are you fit and able to handle the job. You don't have to be an athlete, but fit enough to do what your position demands of you.
    • Do you look the part? Wearing the right clothes at the right time for the right event.

Appearance isn't that important but it can derail you. Appearance is a filter that everyone sees you through.
