Illuminating the shadows within can bring in a new light, so now is the time to shine and grow.
In this accompaniment to episode 18 of ‘Lean In’, I will be your guide through intuitive and easy meditations, emotional processes, guided visualisations and the occasional blunt truth to get your body realigned, your mind relaxed and your soul stirred.

This session of “Your Space’ is the partner for episode 17 of “Lean In”: Rising Up: Christine Hassler: Rising Up: How an Awakening of Self Can Strengthen Your Relationships.
We all have masculine and feminine energy inside us, but sometimes we lose sight of one and let the other take over. In order to achieve balance within ourselves, it’s essential to connect with both. Listen to your body, and allow yourself to connect with the energy you may have been neglecting. This careful balance enables us to rise up and be the best version of ourselves.

Sometimes we tend to define ourselves by our relationship, without even realizing. It’s so essential to nurture ourselves, who we are, so that we can rise up on our own when necessary. Having a partner for support is an amazing thing, but we must also be able to feel that support from within.
Welcome to Lean In. A podcast that explores ordinary people’s extraordinary lives through honest storytelling. My guests share with me their journey of discovery, laughter, personal experiences and healing.
If you are going through a change or challenging period in life, Lean In is the space where we can surrender to the cycle together.
I recently got to sit down and chat with my friend and life coach extraordinaire, Christine Hassler. Christine is such a ray of light for so many people, and we had an enlightening conversation about the journey she went through after her divorce at 31 years old.
Christine is now in a happy, healthy marriage, but she spent the better part of her 30’s learning how to be ok on her own. She realized that she had been a bit distracted by her relationships in the past and was struggling with knowing who she was when she wasn’t doting on a partner.
Today, Christine leads seminars and workshops in front of audiences all around the world, which she says she owes in part to the self-discovery she did after going through the pain and heartbreak of dissolving a relationship.
In this episode of Lean In, Christine and I touch on universal issues we see within ourselves and so many women we’ve helped over the years. We talk about ways she’s gotten back in touch with the feminine energy we all have inside us and the changes that has brought to her life.

In fact, we can learn from these reoccurrences of pain, and use it to fuel our resilience. Everyone is a work in progress.

We’ve all experienced trauma in our lives, and it can lead us to some really dark places. Connecting to our inner selves, and more importantly, listening to our inner voice fueled by the spirit of who we are, can help us learn how to use our physical voice to prevent others from suffering the same fate.

I recently had the opportunity to speak to my friend, Ashlee Donohue. Ashlee is an extraordinary woman who has lived an extraordinary life. She’s written about her personal experiences with domestic violence and childhood abuse in her stunningly honest book “Because I Love Him”.
Ashlee has found her voice by telling her story, and she finds that the incredible strength and resilience she possesses comes in part from her rich Aboriginal ancestry. She has spent the better part of the last twenty years helping Aboriginal communities deal with, and heal from the scars of domestic violence.
In this episode of Lean In, Ashlee tells her heartbreaking story with incredible openness and authenticity. I must warn you, if you’ve experienced domestic violence or childhood abuse in your life, there could be triggers in this episode for you. However, I encourage you to listen anyway, and use those feelings to facilitate healing by reaching out for help.

Our increasingly busy and frantic lives can reach a tipping point where we become overwhelmed and lost. Nature is one of the greatest healers we have, so creating space to retreat and reconnect within its healing hands may be the medicine you need.

If you are going through a change or challenging period in life, Lean In is the space where we can surrender to the cycle together.
In this episode of Lean In, I am beaming with joy at having this exciting opportunity to explore how one woman’s inner turmoil led to her slipping on the walking boots and venturing out on an epic journey of healing and self-discovery.
Terra Roams is the wilderness adventurer, speaker, mentor and storyteller, who walked her way into the record books, becoming the first woman ever to trek the 17,000-kilometre journey around Australia, totally alone and unsupported.
Terra is a self-proclaimed ‘outdoorsy person,’ and if you look hard enough you can now usually find her on an adventure either bushwalking, sailing, kayaking, diving with great white sharks, snorkelling with turtles and whales or even backcountry skiing.
She has spent most of her life volunteering in Australia and overseas, dedicating her time to mental health charities, animal rescue, wildlife conservation, social justice issues and even firefighting.
Today, Terra opens up about her four-year escapade, and how it was driven by the desire to experience solitude in nature after a life-long struggle with suicide, PTSD and mental illness. We talk about fully opening your senses to the landscape and using that to practise mindfulness in a world that seems to treasure business.

Over time, our motivations can often burn out or fade. Reigniting that flame should come from a place of deep love and consistent dreaming so it can truly become your reality.

I recently had the opportunity to speak to Mark Visser. If you’re not familiar with the surfing world, Mark is an Australian professional big wave surfer. He is best known for taking the plunge and becoming the first person to surf Hawaii’s most dangerous wave ‘Jaws,’ at night in 2011.
This amazing feat made surfing history as he rode 30 to 40-foot waves under the illumination of just starlight and an attached LED light attached to his vest. The event was documented in a film called, ‘Night Rider’ and received multiple awards.
Since his claim to fame, he’s been dubbed “one of the fittest watermen in the world,” and spends his time coaching many world athletes, professional sporting teams and elite military groups across the globe.
Mark is also an author, keynote speaker and ocean adventurer, and in 2017 released his book ‘The Big Wave Method’
In this episode of Lean In, we go deep into Mark’s colossal physical achievements and bring to the surface what his motivations were to take on the world’s biggest waves. Together we uncover Mark’s persistent inner ego, and the newfound intuition that guides his decision making.

Taking an idea and making it happen isn’t always an easy path to follow. The roadblocks constructed by fear often dictate how we execute our creative processes. When we choose to tune into our internal intuition and ground ourselves by committing to our chosen path, while wholeheartedly trusting in our own power, truly magical things can happen.

Our whole lives are spent in the pursuit of wisdom. And it comes in many different forms, and some is obtained by studying and becoming an expert in a particular field. Others wisdom arrives through living and experiencing. No matter which way we obtain the wisdom that we do, there is no greater gift than being able to pass that wisdom on to another human being, so that they can learn more about the world they live in and experience it through a different set of eyes.
