  • Lean In 08: Redreaming: Mel Loh on Refuelling Your Life’s Motivation

Are you feeling uninspired or unmotivated? Sometimes your internal fire, the one that drives you, can fizzle out into just smouldering embers. During these times, we can shift our direction and take a new path that reignites the soul.

Welcome to Lean In. A podcast that explores ordinary people’s extraordinary lives through honest storytelling. My guests share with me their journey of discovery, laughter, personal experiences and healing.

If you are going through a change or challenging period in life, Lean In is the space where we can surrender to the cycle together.

In this episode of Lean In, I get down to business with one of the most mind and heart centred entrepreneurs I know, Mel Loh. Mel is an inspirational, self-described east-west mix, third culture kid that doesn’t quite fit the mould when it comes to her professional and personal life.

Being from a well-travelled, multicultural background has given Mel an open perspective of life, allowing her to unintentionally make unconventional choices, and this is why I love her.

She’s a People-Planet-Profit driven business & leadership coach that transforms ideas into success, helping her clients solve real-world problems, all under the belief that modern entrepreneurs and businesses can be one of the fastest vehicles for positive change in the world.

Mel and I discuss the highs and lows we’ve both experienced on our entrepreneurial journeys. She reveals how we can all confront our deepest fears and cultivate our own bravery, while also discussing the concept of ‘Redreaming’ and the importance of living a life of freedom.

    Also featured in this episode:

    • How a multicultural Mel found her tribe
    • The benefits of growing up as a travelling child
    • A 17-year-old Mel’s first published article

  • Your Space 07: Surviving

Welcome to ‘Your Space,’ an embodied and direct experience that allows you to engage in a restorative moment of calm, to unwind, reflect and be nurtured.

This session of “Your Space’ is the partner for episode 7 of “Lean In”: Surviving: Ibu Sari on Turning Pain Into Positivity.

Surviving is something that gets thrown around a lot these days. ‘I survived work for the week’, ‘I survived Christmas with the in-laws’, ‘I survived school drop off’. And yes, while we are all living our own existences and each step forward, no matter the challenge, can feel like battling all the powers in the world. It is only when you come through a time of immense pain or tragedy that you really know what surviving truly means.

In this accompaniment to episode 7 of ‘Lean In’, I will be your guide through intuitive and easy meditations, emotional processes, guided visualisations and the occasional blunt truth to get your body realigned, your mind relaxed and your soul stirred.

  • Lean In 07: Surviving: Ibu Sari on Turning Pain Into Positivity

When we’re confronted by an impossible situation, one that pulls us out of ourselves, we can enter into a place of anger, fear and pain. Turning the negative towards more positive energy could be the best path to follow.

In this episode of Lean In, you can find me sitting in the middle of the jungle, singing to the monkeys with Ibu Sari, one of the most inspirational women I’ve ever met.

Ibu is the founder of the PKP Women’s Center in Sari Pollen, Bali. It’s a safe haven for the many divorced women in Bali to come, share their stories within this loving community while developing their business skills, and engage in further education.

Ibu has also gone on to become the director of Sari Hati School, which is a school for mentally and physically disabled children.

Ibu’s story is not an easy one to hear, and like me, you may need a few tissues to get you through. Today she opens herself up fully; allowing me to share in her deeply emotional journey.

She recounts her struggle with divorce, isolation, rejection and suicide while lifting the veil on the realities for many Balinese women growing up within a patriarchal society.  It’s a beautiful, powerful and transformative story, and we can learn so much from her quest for survival as she emerges from pain to positivity.

    Also featured in this episode:

    • Ibu’s story – The beginnings of something big
    • The shadow of suicide and how Ibu found the light
    • Using dreams as a sign of what was to come
    • Praying for a miracle – The power of prayer
    • Reading and using the signs
    • Killing yourself softly – contending with grief
    • Giving up the things that are most precious
    • Changing direction – How Ibu focused on those who needed help the most

  • Your Space 06: Acceptance

Welcome to ‘Your Space,’ an embodied and direct experience that allows you to engage in a restorative moment of calm, to unwind, reflect and be nurtured.

This session of “Your Space’ is the partner for episode 6 of “Lean In”: Acceptance. Cat Kabira on Navigating Self-Acceptance and Reconnecting With Your Core Truth.

Acceptance is an easy thing to do when what you are faced with requires little change or perspective change. It is only in situations when you are faced with grief beyond what you think you can handle, or a perspective so alien to your own that you instantly reject it.

However, it is in these tougher to handle areas of acceptance that we truly know what we are capable of achieving and handling.

In this accompaniment to episode 6 of ‘Lean In’, I will be your guide through intuitive and easy meditations, emotional processes, guided visualisations and the occasional blunt truth to get your body realigned, your mind relaxed and your soul stirred.

  • Lean In 06: Acceptance. Cat Kabira on Navigating Self-Acceptance and Reconnecting With Your Core Truth

Looking out into the world and constantly feeling that we belong elsewhere can take us away from the present. The magic is in the here-ness, in the moments of presence and accepting yourself in all your messiness.

In this episode of Lean In, I sat face to face with Cat Kabira. Cat is almost superhuman in how she contends with life, a beautiful trait that has given her the ability to teach others to connect and tune into their personal power and reconnect with their core truth.

Her teachings stem from a lifetime of searching for her own self-acceptance, as she has had to navigate through eating disorders, depression, physical and emotional abuse, sexual violence, as well as addiction to drugs and alcohol.

Born in New York, Cat grew up on the east coast and Midwest. Her practices have taken her right around the world from Bali, the United States and Australia to Europe, Asia, and South and Central America. Her warm and tender nature has gracefully positioned her as a world-renowned yoga teacher, trainer and master of the subtle energetic arts.

Cat exudes openness and tells me her story with transparency, vulnerability, and realness. We talk about the first time I met Cat, and the influence she had on the way move within this world. The inner battle she faced with her own femininity and finding safety as a woman. She also brings forward the truth that resides in us all, we are imperfect, and that’s okay.

    Also within this episode:

    • Cat’s story of incredible trauma, abuse, sickness and violence
    • Why Cat created her male persona, Christopher
    • How Cat came into her feminine side, and what that brought into her life
    • Walking through her family dynamic and how it led to the unseen realms
    • The stronghold of eating disorders
    • How a meditation session changed her life
    • Cat’s secret trip to Africa

    • Genuinely being within our body, and what that truly means

This session of “Your Space’ is the partner for episode 5 of “Lean In”: Adventure. Lucy Barnard on Lifes Greatest Adventure & the Power of Human Kindness.

Life is full of adventure, whether that be a moment that you share with someone you have a deep connection. Or the grand sweeping adventures vacationing in exotic and foreign lands.

Adventure can be an enormously blessed gift that you give to yourself throughout your life and can ensure that there is never a moment that you don’t accept and celebrate the life you have. For those with the adventurous spirit find the moments that matter most.

  • Lean In 05: Adventure. Lucy Barnard on Lifes Greatest Adventure & the Power of Human Kindness

Life is one big adventure. There are risks and surprises throughout that can either push us off the path or give us the needed strength to endure.

In this episode of Lean In, I had the privilege of speaking with Lucy Barnard, the extraordinarily resilient woman who has set her sights on becoming the first woman ever to walk the length of the world. She started her journey in the southernmost point of South America and seeks to conclude it at the highest point of Alaska, covering over 30,000km across 15 countries.

From battling freezing storms to overcoming water poisoning, the road so far has provided many challenges. It will be nearly three years before Lucy is set to return to her homeland of Australia, and with the journey’s constant physical toll along with crushing isolation, fatigue and regularly depleting funds, she has often considered halting it all and heading home. However, she always finds hope.

Lucy takes me through her journey so far and why she chose this adventure. How the kindness of strangers has saved her life more than once and why one became two when she picked up a welcome, furry companion.

    Lucy also shares:

    • Being raw in her journey – how Facebook ads spurred her to show the reality of solo travelling
    • The monumental promise Lucy made to Chile
    • How the support of others keeps Lucy on her path
    • How Lucy brought her family into the whole spirit of her adventure
    • Surviving a freezing 250km kayaking journey
    • How she had overcome her self-doubt and shifted her mental perspective
    • Finding her balance and grounding inner voice
    • How Lucy contends with the outsider negativity
    • Why Lucy’s experiences inspire the next generation
    • Wombat – Lucy’s cheeky adventurer
    • Lucy’s intense and loving relationship with mother nature
    • How human kindness led to Lucy standing naked in a stranger’s kitchen

  • Your Space 04: Dreaming

Welcome to ‘Your Space,’ an embodied and direct experience that allows you to engage in a restorative moment of calm, to unwind, reflect and be nurtured.

This session of “Your Space’ is the partner for episode 4 of “Lean In”: Dreaming. Jeremiah Abrams on Unravelling The Psyche and Decoding Our Dreams.

Throughout human history, dreaming has always been something that has guided and controlled the fate of our past, present and future.

Lost among our recall of events and our own imagination of what could be, humans have taken solace in what comes to us while we sleep. The more we find out about our own minds the more we find a place for our dreams, even in the modern world.

In this accompaniment to episode 4 of ‘Lean In’, I will be your guide through intuitive and easy meditations, emotional processes, guided visualisations and the occasional blunt truth to get your body realigned, your mind relaxed and your soul stirred.

  • Lean In 04: Dreaming. Jeremiah Abrams on Unravelling The Psyche and Decoding Our Dreams

Our dreams are the breadcrumbs that help guide us towards a better understanding of our own psyche. They can provide that intuitive inner guidance, pointing us to the things in life that we may need to pay attention to the most.

In this episode of Lean In, I invited Jeremiah Abrams to share his wisdom and take us through the realm of dream psychology.

Jerimiah started out in the ‘helping profession,’ during the anger infused times of the Vietnam War. Now, he is a Jungian therapist, author and dream psychologist, working in both San Francisco Bay area and Ubud, Bali.

Jerimiah is considered a world leader in working with the Human Shadow and wrote his critically acclaimed, bestselling book ‘Meeting The Shadow,’ along with other works including, The Shadow in America, and Reclaiming the Inner Child.

His audio program, The Dreamtime Journey: The Path of Direct Experience is a pure testament to his abilities in helping people deconstruct and analyse the symbolism presented within their dreams.

I walk alongside Jeremiah as he takes us on his journey of slumber and visions. He introduces the idea of ‘unpacking the symbology,’ while focusing on exactly where dreams come from and the importance of setting intentions before you sleep.

    Jeremiah also shares:

    • Jeremiah’s background – In the shadow of Vietnam
    • How we can use our dreams to unravel our own psyche
    • Why we all need to pay attention to our dreams more
    • The Dream Thieves – methods of recounting our dreams and making connections
    • Why am I having this dream now? – Exploring symbolism
    • Dreaming and its ability to see around corners
    • The importance of setting intentions before you sleep
    • Inner guidance – the positives and negatives
    • The Shadow and what we don’t want to admit about ourselves
    • The baby steps we can all take in our journey from head to heart

  • Your Space 03: Expression

Welcome to ‘Your Space,’ an embodied and direct experience that allows you to engage in a restorative moment of calm, to unwind, reflect and be nurtured.

This session of “Your Space’ is the partner for episode 3 of “Lean In”: Expression. Kamau Abayomi on Unleashing Your Uniqueness and Inspiring The Inner Artist.

How do we express who we are to the world outside of ourselves? As humans we have found many different ways: art, movement, discussion, love, writing, building, creating – to name only a handful.

It is part of our make up that we are able to connect to each other by expressing our needs, wants and desires that transcend just what we can say, feel and do. Carving the very earth in the expression of what it means to be human.

In this accompaniment to episode 1 of ‘Lean In’, I will be your guide through intuitive and easy meditations, emotional processes, guided visualisations and the occasional blunt truth to get your body realigned, your mind relaxed and your soul stirred.
