Pip: Als ik doodstil lig gaat het nog, maar zodra ik beweeg is het verschrikkelijk. Het zit linksonder, achterin.

Tandarts: Doet u uw mond eens wijd open. Kunt u het aanwijzen?

Pip: Ergens hier, maar ik weet het niet precies.

Tandarts: Ah. Ik zie het al. Het is een abces. Als ik het verdoof, kan ik dat makkelijk weghalen.

Tandarts: En u krijgt natuurlijk wat pijnstillers mee.

Pip: Gelukkig, dank u wel. Als je kiespijn hebt, kun je bijna niets doen.

Tandarts: Ik weet het. Wees gerust, het is zo voorbij.

Pip: Fantastisch. Heel erg veel dank.

Tandarts: Komt u volgende week nog even langs, ter controle.

Dentist: Please sit down. Where is the culprit and when did the pain start?

Pip: When I lay stock-still, it is not too bad, but as soon as I move, it is like hell. It's on the left, at the bottom, in the back.

Dentist: Open your mouth wide please. Can you point it out?

Pip: It's somewhere here, but I don't know exactly.

Dentist: Ah. I can see it. An abscess. I'll anesthetize it and cut it away. Shouldn't be too hard.

Dentist: And of course I'll get you some painkillers.

Pip: Thank you. With a toothache there's almost nothing you can do anymore.

Dentist: I know, but don't worry, it will soon be over.

Pip: Fantastic. Thank you very much.

Dentist: Please come back next week for a check up.

Ciske de Rat

De versie uit 1984 van de Nederlandse film Ciske de Rat is een remake van de eerdere film met dezelfde naam, en was gebaseerd op twee delen uit een trilogie van boeken van Piet Bakker. De boeken werden gelezen in 10 verschillende landen over de hele wereld, en in aanvulling op twee verschillende versies van film, werd er ook een musical en een tv-serie gemaakt van de boeken.

Hoewel de versie uit 1955 van de film houdt de nummer drie blijft op de lijst van films met het hoogste kassucces in de Nederlandse filmgeschiedenis, is de versie uit 1984 eigenlijk meer bekend. De versie uit 1984 is eigenlijk de 9de beste film op basis van kassa-opbrengst sinds 1945, waardoor het de enige film is die op die lijst twee van de top 10 plaatsen bekleedt.

Guido Pieters regisseerde de versie uit 1984, met Danny de Munk als Ciske, Willeke van Ammelrooy als moeder Ciske, en Herman Van Veen als Bruis, Ciske's leraar. Aan het begin van de film, wordt Ciske voorgesteld als een onruststoker die ook om mensen lijkt te geven. Hij giet inkt over het hoofd van zijn leraar, en toch, als een door polio verlamde jongen naar zijn school wordt overgeheveld, hij is de enige die aardig tegen hem is.

Ciske's vader is een zeeman, die de meeste van de tijd weg op zee is , en zijn moeder, die misbruik van hem maakt en hem verwaarloost, leidt een ontuchtige levensstijl in afwezigheid van zijn vader. Ciske belandt in een inrichting omdat zijn moeder hem heeft overgegeven en ze probeert Ciske's leraar ervan te weerhouden om hem te helpen. Ciske de Rat

The 1984 version of the Dutch film Ciske de Rat is a remake of the earlier film of the same name, which was based on two parts from a trilogy of books by Piet Bakker. The books were read in ten different countries around the world, and in addition to two different movie versions, there was also a musical and a TV series made from the books.

Although the 1955 version of the film holds the number three spot on the list of highest grossing box office films in Dutch cinema history, the 1984 version is actually more well-known. The 1984 version is actually the ninth highest grossing film at the Dutch box office since 1945, making it the only film to hold two of the top ten spots on that list.

Guido Pieters directed the 1984 version of the film, which stars Danny de Munk as Ciske, Willeke van Ammelrooy as Ciske's mother, and Herman Van Veen as Bruis, Ciske's teacher. At the beginning of the film, Ciske is established as a troublemaker who also seems to care about people. He pours ink over his teacher's head, and yet when a boy crippled by polio is transferred to his school, he is the only one to be nice to him.

Ciske's father is a sailor who is away at sea most of the time, and his abusive and neglectful mother lives a lewd lifestyle in his father's absence. Ciske ends up in an institution because his mother has him committed, and she tries to keep Ciske's teacher from helping him. Ciske's father ends up divorcing his mother and becoming involved with another woman, and Ciske attempts to spy on his mother for his father so that he can get custody of Ciske. This only results in more trouble for the boy, who ends up killing his mother.
