Alte obiective turistice includ Biserica Sf.
    ----Formal English----
Brasov is a city located in the central part of Romania in the midst of the Southern Carpathian Mountains in Transylvania.
The city is a popular base for tourists who want to explore Romania or gallivant throughout the country because of its central location.
It sits in the center of and roughly equidistant to the resorts on the Black Sea, North Moldavia's monasteries, and Maramures's wooden churches.
Brasov is also the biggest city located in in an area with several ski resorts, so it is especially abuzz during the winter months.
One of the most popular resorts in the area is Poiana Brasov, a place for sightseeing in addition to skiing.
In addition to the many mountain resorts, Brasov is also home to sundry sights, like the Gothic-style Black Church, which was built in 1477 on the same site of an older church that was razed more than a century before.
In 1689, the church was blackened by a massive fire, which is why it received the epithet the "Black Church."
In the old city center, the mountain Tampa offers a place for sightseers to observe the city and its many sights.
Other popular sights in Brasov include St. Nicholas Church, which was constructed during the 1300s, the Rope Street, which is Romania's thinnest street, and Catherine's Gate which is the city's only original gate that dates from medieval times.
Bran Castle is also located near Brasov, and it attracts many Dracula fans because Vlad the Impaler, the infamous fiend who served as the "inspiration" for the stories about the fictional vampire Dracula, was erroneously said to have lived there.

    ----Formal English----
The Transfagarasan is the road that traverses Romania's highest mountains, the Fagaras range.
It reaches up to Moldoveanu Peak and serves as the main connection between Transylvania and Walachia.
The road also takes travelers up to one of Romania's highest altitudes in the Glacial Hollow Balea.
The road was constructed built between 1970 and 1974, mostly by young members of the military in an attempt to avert a repeat of the Soviet Union's invasion of Czechoslovakia in 1968.
Nicolae Ceausescu was in power at the time, and he wanted to ensure that their military could quickly cross the mountains if the Russians turned their attention to Romania and attempted something similar.
Many young soldiers died in the construction of the Transfagarasan because of the dangerous cliffs and a lack of training in the use of explosives.
Because of all the twists and turns, the Transfagarasan is a decidedly treacherous route which is sometimes referred to as Ceausescu's Folly.
However, it also offers visitors sweeping panoramic views of the Paltin Mountains, Balea Lake, bridges, and viaducts.
The road also passes through a thin, tenebrous (dark, murky) tunnel that's naturally ventilated by potent air currents through the mountains.
The Transfagarasan is so perilous due to severe seasonal weather that it's only open for a few months a year, in most cases, between July and October.
Hikers looking for more of an adventure than driving the winding road may decide to climb it, although it's recommended that they climb starting at the south end of the road and move toward the north because of the beauty that can be witnessed along that route.

    ----Formal English----
The Turda Salt Mine is a veritable museum devoted to the history and the evolution of the practice of salt mining and today is considered to be one of the world's most beautiful underground places and one of the most spectacular destinations for tourists in the world.
It's located in Romania's Cluj County in Turda's Durgau-Valea Sarata region.
The machinery inside the salt mine has been preserved, giving visitors a sense of what it was like to work in the salt mines long ago.
Miners started extracting salt from the Turda Mine in ancient times of bygone epochs.
Starting in the Middle Ages, it was known to be yielding table salt continuously through 1932.
The first mention of the mine dates to 1075, although it wasn't until 1271 that it was explicitly mentioned in official documents from the Hungarian chancellery.
Inside the Turda Salt Mine, there are many attractions, including more than one mine inside the Turda mining complex.
One popular mine is the Iosif Mine, which can be reached through balconies that were carved right into the salt.
The mine is popularly referred to as the Echoes Room because of the way it is shaped and the fact that there's no communication with the rest of the major mining nodes, which make the space echo.
The conical Terezia Mine is also popular, as it features a salt cascade in addition to a lake, salt efflorescence, and stalactites, which create an unusual feeling of inert equilibrium.
The Crivac Room is known for the massive piece of preserved mining machinery that's located there.

    ----Formal English----
The Peles Castle is located in Romania's Prahova County outside of Sinaia in the Carpathian Mountains.
It sits on a route that dates back to medieval times and links Wallachia with Transylvania.
Romanian royalty first became interested in the land surrounding the Peles Castle in the mid- to late-1800s.
King Carol I was awed by the majestic, pastoral scenery there, and so the Crown bought approximately 500 square miles of land in the area in 1872 and called it the Royal Estate of Sinaia.
King Carol bespoke the creation of royal hunting grounds and a summer palatial residence there.
Crews laid the foundation for the castle the following year.
Interestingly, the Peles Castle was the first in the world to be powered by electricity that was supplied locally, as one of the auxiliary buildings that was constructed on the property was a power plant.
Although the Peles Castle is referred to as a castle, its function and form are that of a palace.
From an architectural standpoint, it blends the Gothic Revival and Neo-Renaissance styles with a romantic twist.
In the facades in the interior quadrangle, there is also a Saxon influence in the form of hand-painted murals which tell allegories and also elaborate timber work that bears a resemblance to alpine architecture from the northern part of Europe.
The interior of the castle features Baroque-style frippery in the form of carved woodwork and sumptuous fabrics.
The Peles Castle has more than 170 rooms, many of which bear motifs of cultures from all over the world.
Of course each theme differs in its function, with some serving as officers and others as libraries, galleries, or armories.
