Join me, Alison Elizabeth as we continue our Advent 2020 prayers. Today we are reading out of Luke 2:6-7 which says "While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them."
"Today’s devotional brings me right back to Christmas. It reminds me of the lengths Mary and Joseph went to ensure the safety of the child. If you don’t know the story, I would go into Luke and read the full thing. It’s beautiful and it reminds us to humbly praise him. Jesus could have split the heavens down and come in the form of a man. He could have been full grown. Saved us from the grip of hell and ascended right back up into heaven, but he didn’t. He came in the form of a baby. Who sat in a manger, crying and sleeping, and eating. Like all new borns do.
He grew up. He spent time walking the earth as a human. He could have started his ministry at 18 but he waited until he was 30. He died at 33. Why? Why did he live a full life before he got to saving the world? The answer is simple, his life is an image of ours. We have to learn how to crawl before we can walk. We have to walk before we can run. God understands that there is a season for everything. We can’t just walk into the glory of your career, you need to first go to school and learn the alphabet, then you need to go to college, or continuing education so that you can learn more about your job.
Let his story remind you, that you are still learning. Still growing. Still prepping for the seasons ahead of you."
