This epsiode is composed of poetry from Shine Your Icy Crown by Amanda Lovelace. I really love the personality and the authenticity of this collection - which is why I'm so excited to share it with you as a part of Womens History Month and alongside so many other stunning female voices in the world of poetry this month.
Today's episode is full of segments from When the Stars Wrote Back by Trista Mateer! I really love the way this collection grows and empowers. There is so much light within these pages - even if it seems to be hiding at first.
Today's epsiode features random poems from Neil Hilborn (@Neilicorn on Instagram) 's collection The Future. Which is probably one of my favorite collections of his so far.
It feels right to use his poems to celebrate National Grammar Day because he runs a 10 week workshop (in repetitive sessions) and always reminds us how much of a nerd he is. And how important grammar is even if we say fuck the prompt or fuck the workshop. It's kinda fun. Also he teaches college kids poetry and grammar - so that's fitting.
IT's also national pound cake day - and I feel like this is an important thing to celebrate because we all need a little sweetness to balance out the tart of life and the detailed devils of grammar! Have a great day and I'll see you again tomorrow!
Today is national "I hope you're happy day" and it felt right in a weird way to read poetry from R. Clift's collection "Your Thoughts Deserve a Decent Place to Live". To support her and check out the full list of collections just search for R. Clift poetry wherever books are sold!
I love how this collection not only reminisces on life and even clearly touches on women's history (appropriately so for March: Women's history month) but adds updated details and reflections. So no matter which side of the spectrum you're on, there's something to resonate and guide you. I also think that Maureen's voice is so incredibly clear and powerful that it is fitting for today as a whole.
I thought a long time about what I wanted to share today and what tone I wanted to set on Learning to Fly for the month of March. I love the duality and the growth in this collection by Parker Lee Formerly known as Cyrus Parker. I think we all need to stop and consider the choices we make and how these moments effect not only ourselves and our personal growth but those around us as well. And personally, I know that with the month ahead I want to continue inspiring and being available for those around me.
Right after the ad, there's a question I want to pose to you: What book would you like to read again?
Also, the book I'm reading from in today's episode (in no particular order) is Coffee Days Whiskey Nights by Parker Lee formerly known as Cyrus Parker.
Just something fun to do. Zach tries his hand at sharing spooky dark poetry - in case you're having a mood. OR maybe because we are. LOL. Anyway, enjoy!!!
You guys have been requesting that Zach come on and read some of the poems he wrote to me!!! And what better time for this than today of all days - Valentine's day!!! These are poems he wrote and buried about 5 years ago - so our relationship has grown and changed since then, but it's still so much fun to come on and share works together!!!
