Sometimes finding inspiration is the most difficult part of putting your best foot forward. Especially with the coming of a new year coupled with the growth of an up and coming artist. That being said, today's guest, Sarah, can be found on Instagram @girl.withapencil and is a frequent face on Sharing Space - a biweekly Instagram Live event. Where she is finding both her voice and a genuine audience. This is the kind of growth and artistry that Learning to Fly strives to embrace.
Today's creative prompt is: Counting Dreams and as I sat down to put together today's episode I was truly inspired by this idea of counting dreams. So I've decided to read a small handful of poems from my upcoming collection "Dear Bouquet" which will be available later this year. I also took some time to talk about making my dreams come true and how incredible it feels to be able to count the dreams I made possible while the world continues to right itself from the Covid-19 incident.
Even more than all of this though, I'd like to invite you to share your dreams in the making and your achieved dreams with me as well. I'd love to talk about them on the podcast. I'd like to invite you to Sharing Space (an Instagram Live event I host on Tuesdays and Saturdays) so you can share the things you create and the things that inspire you while being surrounded by genuinely kind and talented souls. Let's talk about you! About your dreams! And celebrate them as a community.
Welcome, everyone! I am so excited to have Learning to Fly up and running again! And to be starting the New Year off together!
Today's poem features "Time to Come" by Walt Whitman, "The sole intention of creating this" by Ric BASTASA, "The dancing went on without him" by Afxa (Screenname), and to bring everything full circle, "Whoever You are Holding me in your hand" by Walt Whitman.
I think that poetry with intention and poetry written intentionally is a fantastic foundation for this coming year and for further growth of myself and this community. That being said, Happy New Year everyone!
Also, today's prompt is: snowfall at dawn. I hope that this inspires you to write, draw, sing, or explore your other creative passions and I look forward to seeing anything you create with the hashtags #SincerelyBlueJayWriteins or #BlueJayprompts
Today's episode is kind of a recap and a what's coming next type of thing. There is no real poetry and not really anything too special - basically just news so more of the episodes throughout the month can be poetry related!
In today's episode, Nadine Hayes joins me to talk about her book Paper Hearts - which has already sold out on her website, but is still available on Amazon. She also shares a bit about her bookmarks (available of sale on her website) and upcoming projects.
