A conversation with hip-hop artist Nur-D in studio. A native Minnesotan, Nur-D’s career has evolved from heavy metal influences to exploring the depths of hip-hop. Nur-D reveals the genesis behind his twin 2020 releases, “Trapped in My Room” and “38th” as we explore his artistic journey. A musical detour from his previous work, the songs are directly influenced by COVID-19 and the riots of 2020. He cares deeply for his community, reflected in his continued work alongside Justice Frontline Aid. The organization provides aid, resources, and education to those who put their bodies on the frontlines in the fight for justice.

Lacking our usual “polish and sophistication”, we give into the general madness and silliness that ensues when you put five rather interesting people together on stage. Our guests are the lovely Laurie Lindeen (from Episode 44). She is funny and smart, kind and generous, but you have to question her choices because she brought Klecko (from Episode 100)! They are friends! How does that happen?

Kidding aside, the Legacy Matters crew are big fans of these two gems. Both Laurie and Danny have written things that you should read. Laurie wrote Petal Pusher and Danny wrote Hitman-Baker-Casketmaker. Seriously, these are good people with experiences to relay. What can you say about a person like Twila other than that she is awesome? I mean, sure you can say more, but she really is awesome. Twila is articulate and passionate. She works tirelessly to bring others up. Her network of shows and her vision are a big part of the future. Usually Sarah writes these intros and she is way better about informing you of what you are about to hear. This is Sam writing this one. It has been so long and so much has happened since we taped this show, but I do remember having a great conversation with Twila about her life and what she is doing now to make the world a better place.
