Legends with Bevo

I recently caught up for a chat with former Great Britain Olympic Gymnast and Commonwealth Games Gold Medallist, Lee McDermott.  Lee has an incredible resume as not only an athlete but as a coach as well, he took New Zealand to their highest ever position in Gymnastics history, has coached the Cirque du Soleil team and is now involved with helping out at the Gold Coast Suns in the AFL.

Bevo caught up with the President of the Southern Football League in South Australia to find out about the latest news on season 2020 and whether it will go ahead, what he enjoys most about being the President, the close relationship between the Southern Footy League and the Great Southern Footy League, some of the best players to come out of the Southern Footy League and Craig's footy journey from a player, coach and into being the President of the League.

Craig also shared a wonderful story about an incredible man from the Willunga Football Club,  affectionately known as 'Taffy Waye' who won a staggering 14 premierships in the Southern Football League, played at Sturt in the SANFL and used to get to training on a horse and cart!

In one of the most hilarious chats ever on Legends with Bevo, it was a blast chatting with the very charismatic, Channel Seven Sunrise weatherman, Sam Mac.

It was fantastic to chat with Miles Bergman this week, one of the young guns from the Port Adelaide Football Club.

His response to my question about the feeling of being drafted at no.14 in the 2019 national draft was fascinating.

We also spoke about what it was like to make his AFL debut in round one this year after being emergency seven times in 2020 and shared some great laughs about the pranksters and funny team mates at the club, being average at golf and our common dislike in doing dishes.

It was a joy to catch up for a chat with professional golfer and member of the Flagstaff Hill Golf Club, Max McCardle.

Max shares stories of how he started golf later than most and what it took to become a professional golfer, the ups and downs of golf, training involved with being a professional golfer, the best player that he has played with so far and future aspirations for his golf career.

With the 2021 Tokyo Olympics less than 100 days away it was fantastic to chat to one of our star athletes, Jane Claxton from the Hockeyroos and ambassador for Utonic.

It was a real pleasure to chat with the greatest cycling commentator of all time and the man they call 'The Voice of Cycling', Phil Liggett

We spoke about Phil's journey and his passion for cycling from a young age, which led him to commentate an amazing 48 Tour De Frances and 15 Olympic Games.

We discussed what makes Phil and his wife Trish so passionate about animal conservation, the incredible work they have been doing to save the rhinos and Phil's unique love for bird watching.

Phil and I also spoke about the documentary about him which is appropriately titled, 'The Voice of Cycling' and how the documentary came about.

The Leconfield Wines McLaren Vale Marathon is a fantastic event that is happening on the 10th and 11th of April 2021.  

It was a thrill to get Matt Evans and Roger Rasheed on Legends with Bevo to talk about the event.  

Matt is the Race Director of Great Southern Runs and Roger is the Founder of the Roger Rasheed Sports Foundation, an expert tennis commentator and has coached some of the greats in tennis.  

We also spoke about Roger's foundation, involvement in partnering with the event and an exciting sports facility at Christies Downs that Roger's foundation is involved with plus much more.  

Matt discussed what to look forward to at the event, his passion for running and the significance of events like this one in the Fleurieu Peninsula.
