We decided to discuss a very important event in world history, one that is filled with hope and belief in humanity: the Christmas ceasefires of 1914 during WW1. A time when men from all over Europe dropped their weapons, questioned the war, and connected on a personal level, even for just a day. We also go off topic and discuss some college football at the end, while also talking about ou christmas traditions. Enjoy the holidays everyone!

On this episode of Les Incompetent, we cover more of Andrew Roberts "Napoleon: A Life." We go over the Napoleonic code, Napoleon as a delegator and the founding of his military academies, and go over the peoples opinion of Napoleon at this early point in his empire. 

We finish part one of Andrew Roberts book "Napoleon: A Life. In this section we cover Napoleons campaign in Egypt and Acre, and how he is just following in the footsteps of Julius Caesar and Alexander the Great. We also cover the Coup of Brumaire, which we have some thoughts on. 

This week on Les Incompetent, we cover the Chapters Victory and Peace, which goes over Napoleons Italian Campaign and his rise in the ranks of popularity among the French. We also go over Napoleons persistence with Josephine, and how nothing he could do would impress her. 

On this weeks episode of Les Incompetent, we begin our dive into Andrew Roberts "Napoleon, A Life." We cover his early life, up to his time in Italy. We discuss Napoleons popularity in school, his love for Corsica, and how the Governement in France at the time was failing spectacularly during all of this. 

Before we do our deep dive into Eric Robert's "Napoleon: A life" we have decided to discuss a topic relative to not only the French Revolution, but also present day and beyond, and that is the fragility of Democracy and what it takes to attain it, keep it, and make it stronger. We go over democracy not being a permanent phase, and how easy it is to lose it.

On this weeks Les Incompetent, we cover the last section of Ian Davidsons book "The French Revolution: From Enlightenment to Tyranny." We go over the Reign of Terror, one of the darkest, if not darkest, period in French History. We go over the rise of the Department of Public Safety, and how one individual can take something good and turn it into a vessel for something evil. We also go over our next topic, which is not surprising at all.

With that out of the way, on this weeks episode we delve into the life of Marquis de Sade, sexual deviant, author of numerous erotic novels, including "120 days of Sodom" and "Justine." The term Sadism derives from his name, and after the deep dive we went through, and the research we did, it makes all the sense. Proceed with caution.

Before we finish Ian Davidons book "The French Revolution: From Enlightenment to Tyranny," We are going to do a deep dive into someone we feel is important to understanding not only the Sans coulottes, but also what the average Frenchman felt towards not only the nobility, but also the revolution. A controversial figure for sure, we cover Clifford D. Conners book "Jean Paul Marat" as well as Jean Pauls Marat essay " An Essay on the Human Soul."

On this weeks episode of Les Incompetent, we cover Chapters 13-18 of Ian Davidsons Book "The French Revolution: From Enlightenment to Tyranny." We cover the execution of the king, the failure of the new French Government, and the rise of the Sans Coulottes, who execute a lot of power (and people) with the new failed state. Also the Jacobins begin to push their power over the other parties in France, with disastrous consequences.
