Lesson 381: Growth Comes From Goodbyes

Letting go is difficult. Saying goodbye can hurt but more often than not, when we let go of things, when we say goodbye, we give ourselves an opportunity to grow. It's scary but you should not be afraid to let go and say goodbye.

PROMPT: What was your last goodbye? What growth did it lead to?

  • Lesson 380: Be Crystal Clear

    Lesson 380: Be Crystal Clear

When we make comments, or present or speak, we have to make sure the audience understands us. We have to make sure they don't try to look for a meaning that isn't there. We have to be clear with the point we are trying to make.

PROMPT: How do you ensure they understand you?

  • Lesson 379: Try Things That Might Not Work

Lesson 379: Try Things That Might Not Work

It's ok to try things that might not work, the keyword being "might". If you are sure it won't work, then there's no point. But if there's a chance it just might work, go ahead try it. If it does work, amazing. If not, all good, you get to learn something new. Don't be afraid to try new things that seem not so sure of working.

PROMPT: What was the last thing you tried knowing it might not work?

  • Lesson 378: Don't Get Too Attached To Ideas

Lesson 378: Don't Get Too Attached To Ideas

Ideas are amazing. From ideas, we get to build awesome things so it's understandable that letting go of ideas can be a difficult thing to do. However, you should get comfortable with letting ideas go from time to time. If there is a good reason why you should let that idea go, then you should. Sure it hurts but if you hold on to it, you are just holding yourself back from getting new and better ideas.

PROMPT: What idea did you have to let go of recently?

  • Lesson 377: Everything You Hate Is Someone's Favourite Thing

Lesson 377: Everything You Hate Is Someone's Favourite Thing

We are all different beings and we all like what we like. Just because you don't like something doesn't mean everyone else loathes it. We should learn to be understanding and accepting of people and what works for them. It doesn't have to be your cup of tea but you have to be accepting of the person's thing if you do accept the person.

PROMPT: How do you learn to appreciate things you don't care for?

    Lesson 376: Have A Cause

When you have a cause you are focused, you are driven and you are inspired to do what you can for that cause. Hopefully, the cause is a positive one because positive or not, once you have a cause, the focus is honed in and you will do what is needed for the cause.

  • Lesson 375: Make A To-Do List Of Difficult Things

Lesson 375: Make A To-Do List Of Difficult Things

I'm lazy and most of my friends know this or at least are tired of hearing me say it. However, what helps me get so much done is that I create to-do lists full of difficult things. The idea is that if it's on the list, I'll buckle down and do what needs to be done. If it's not on the list, it's most likely not going to get done.

PROMPT: What difficult thing will you do today?

  • Lesson 374: Create Your "Square Squad"

Lesson 374: Create Your "Square Squad"

From Brene Brown's Dare To Lead: "Get a one-inch piece by one-inch piece of paper and write down the names of the people whose opinions matter to you. It needs to be small because it forces you to edit." Your square squad is the very short list of people whose opinions matter. These are the people who care enough about you to be honest, rather than telling you what you want to hear. They should not be people who just blindly agree with you no matter what. I call them my Avengers.

PROMPT: How many people are on your square squad?

Lesson 373: Remix Your Old Work

I'm always remixing my work because every time I go back to something I created, I get to see things in a brand new light. It's beautiful and it keeps growing. Go back to the work you've created and see what elements you can remix. It's a beautiful thing.

PROMPT: What old work of yours would you love to remix?

Lesson 372:   Introduce New Ideas Slowly

Change isn't always welcomed so when you have a new idea, no matter how amazing it might be, it's a good idea to introduce it slowly. Keep what they are used to and introduce elements of the new idea then keep building. Bit by bit, till the new idea seems the norm to everyone.

PROMPT: What new idea are you introducing?
