  • Let's Go Show with Mallory Dwinal-Palisch "It's Within Your Reach"

Mallory Dwinal-Palisch has dedicated her career to innovative educational models. She began as a Spanish teacher with Teach for America and, later, co-founded and led the Oxford Day Academy (ODA), a public charter school in East Palo Alto. ODA has adapted and codified the Oxford tutorial pedagogy for K12 students from all learning backgrounds. From there, she co-founded the Oxford Teachers Academy (OTA), a Bachelor's Degree program that scales the learnings of ODA by training the next generation of classroom teachers-- particularly from remote rural areas-- in ODA's modified tutorial pedagogy. OTA is now Oxford Teachers Ccllege at Reach University, and has expanded to develop the next generation of teachers in urban and rural communities alike. Mallory graduated summa cum laude from Northwestern University with a B.A. in Economics, Spanish, and International Studies; additionally, she holds a Ph.D. in Education from Oxford University (dissertation focus: rural teacher shortages), which she attended as a U.S. Rhodes Scholar, and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School. She lives in Nashville, Tennessee.

  • Isaac Redman and Sabrina DiBianca "Together We Build A Community"

I have the pleasure of interviewing Sarina DiBianca, Silioam Wellness and Isaac Redman, former NFL player with the Pittsburgh Steelers, Legends Football Camp. Together them are teammates for the Legends Football Camp being held at Paulsboro High School NJ.  " Together They Build A Community"

On June 24th and 25th, Siloam Wellness will be hosting our annual Legends Football Camp for Philadelphia and New Jersey students ages 8-18. We are excitedly joined by Isaac Redman, former running back for the Pittsburgh Steelers, and Kevin Ross, cornerback coach for the Tampa Bay Bucs.

The camp will run from 10am - 12pm and Saturday and Sunday, with a barbecue to follow on Sunday.

Sarina DiBianca, Executive Director at Siloam Wellness Center,

Siloam enriches the well-being of people living with HIV/AIDS by providing a broad range of integrative mind, body and spirit services and programs. Our vision is to support an HIV community that is vibrant, safe, empowered and free from stigma. As well as prevention in youth 13-24 years of age.

Isaac Redman, Redman, a running back for the Pittburgh Steelers and a Paulsboro High School graduate, started the football camp last year at the high school. The event brought out a number of other football players, including former Eagles players and other Paulsboro High School graduates like Alex Silvestro and Gerald Hodges, to help coach the up-and-coming athletes in a number of drills.

While the football hopefuls might not run the same 4.7 second 40 yard dash that Redman ran, they all look up to the Paulsboro native as an example of what they can accomplish in their future.

Redman said he never had an opportunity to participate in a football camp that involved professionals when he was growing up in Paulsboro. He said he runs the camp not only to benefit the Redzone Redman Foundation, a group striving to help “youth affected by physical, emotional, and socio-economic challenges,” but also to cultivate the rising culture of athletics in Paulsboro.

In 2012, Steelers-centric SB Nation blog Behind the Steel Curtain created what is known as the "Redman Award." The award, inspired by Isaac Redman's impressive preseason play throughout his career, was to be awarded to a Steelers player, a sixth-round draft pick or lower, who had convinced the fan base throughout the preseason that they were a "diamond in the rough."[11] Other stipulations include that the player must have spent two training camps or less with the Steelers and have had endeared themselves to the fan base regardless of their chances of making the team's final roster.

The first official appearance of the award on Behind the Steel Curtain's website was in 2014, when an article was published detailing the top candidates for the honor.[12]

The award tradition is still carried out by the writers at Behind the Steel curtain to this day, with the winner being voted on in a poll open to all readers sometime around Labor Day weekend. The winners of the award include Adrian Robinson (2012), Alan Baxter (2013), Daniel McCullers (2014), Roosevelt Nix (2015), Tyler Matakevich (2016),

  • The Let's Go Show with Doug Reed featuring Dr Amir Rashidian " Turning Stress Into Transformation Into Your Health and Life ""

Amir A. Rashidian was born in Iran in 1974. He was 5-years old when the rioting began, and the government was overthrown. Iran became the Islamic Republic of Iran and the world as he knew it changed. He still remembers the gruesome violence of that time and although several decades have passed, he can recall the scenes like they occurred yesterday.

He was 6-years old when Saddam Hussein’s Iraq invaded Iran and thus began the air-raids and bombings. Amir lived in a quiet and peaceful area of northern Iran near the Caspian Sea. Prior to the revolution this area was a trendy and luxurious vacation area with lots of recreational facilities and picturesque beaches. However, a couple of years after the war began, the beautiful scenic park across from his house was converted into a POW camp to contain the many Iraqi prisoners. Every couple of months an Iraqi soldier would escape and attempt to hide in Amir’s neighborhood. Shooting would ensue in the streets and Amir’s family would hide in their home.

Amir’s father wanted to bring the family to America. Every summer Amir’s father would take their family to a different European country with the hopes of obtaining a visa to the United States. Each time they met with rejection and had to return home.

Finally, at age 11, Amir’s family was given permission to enter the United States of America. In August of 1985, Amir and his mother landed in Los Angeles with nothing but two suitcases. They were homeless for a few months until they moved into a small 2-bedroom apartment which they shared with another woman and her two young children. His experiences during this time led to his passion for helping the homeless and those in need of proper housing. This is also why he serves as a member of the board of directors of Habitat for Humanity in his hometown.

Amir’s father was a highly respected and successful businessman in Iran. He owned a large construction company and had built hospitals, government buildings, and apartment buildings in Iran. However, after the revolution, their money was practically worthless in America. Amir’s mother worked as a nanny during the week and Amir and his mother cleaned houses on weekends to earn extra money. One day, a wealthy man approached Amir’s father who was still in Iran and offered him the opportunity of a lifetime. The wealthy man offered to purchase a house on the east coast and sell it to him at no interest and low monthly payments. Thus, Amir with his mother and father moved to Maryland in 1987.

Before leaving Iran, Amir’s dad wanted to teach him about poverty and life in the underprivileged regions of Iran, the villages in the foothills of the Elburz mountain range. In one of those villages, Amir was witness to a young woman who had gone into labor. The midwife told her and her husband that the baby was not alive, and the young woman would likely not survive. That woman died in her husband’s arms because there were no doctors in that village. Amir decided at that moment to commit his life to become a doctor, to saving lives and preventing unnecessary death.

In America, driven by his dream to become a doctor, Amir was a good student and a very hard worker. Unfortunately, Amir had a type of dyslexia that affected his ability to read. His eyes would jumble the words on the page and he had to rearrange them in his mind to try and make sense of the text. At the time, he didn’t know he had dyslexia and believed he was slow and dumb. It didn’t mean he couldn’t do well in school; it just meant that he would have to work harder and longer than anyone else. That’s how he managed to get the grades, finish near to the top of his high school class and get accepted into the George Washington University’s premedical program.
