  • Let's Go Show with Pastor Troy Wilkins, Memphis Tennessee " The Importance Of Legacy and Being A Humble Servant"

I got an opportunity to talk to Pastor R. Troy Wilkins at the Greater New Salem Church in Memphis, Tennessee, "Home of the Blues and Birthplace of Rock'n' Roll. Blacks are the fifth largest ethnic group in Memphis, TN, (64.2%) and the city has a lot of history to include the Circles of Success Learning Academy where Pastor Troy serves as the Director of Operations. In this interview we talked about his upbringing in Memphis, his assignment as a godly servant in the City of Memphis and his future plans. The interview centers on him as a person, community leader and a humble servant.

Pastor Troy currently serves (2012) as Senior Servant of the Greater New Salem Church in an inner-city neighborhood of Memphis, TN.   His focus is outreach with an emphasis on the total man/woman, mind, body and soul.

His job as pastor is to lead God’s people into a relationship with Jesus Christ through preaching, teaching and ministering to the whole person.  His daily prayer is that through these vehicles; people will come to know Jesus Christ in a more perfect way.  He feels that while there are many who have accepted Jesus Christ, they have yet to develop a lasting life-long relationship with Him.

In leading God’s people, he feels required to consult with the maker in every aspect, realizing that there will be times when God’s direction through him will conflict with the direction given through others.  It is his desire to always to spiritually educate the saints to totally depend on God’s direction in all we do and say.  The spirit that lives within each of us ignites that passion we should have to give back.

To remain diligent to the task of personal holiness, evangelizing, discipling, prayer and protection to God’s people.  His vision/mission in life is to equip the saints of God with His word and His work; and to produce/reproduce other saints and to be a community warrior seeking transformational behaviors.

Father, friend and faithful servant are the titles he wears proudly. He is the youngest of three children and the only male born child.  He  am currently doing doctoral studies at Walden University seeking my PhD in Education Innovation and Administration.  Previously, he have held managerial roles with International Paper, Promus Companies, and Federal Express.

He is married to LaTosha (1994) and has the blessed privilege of being a dad to Peighton Rose,
