I've got a real treat for you today with lots of actionable tips. I talk to fellow life coaches Bridget and Becky about their stress reset course (see below for link and discount code) that they are creating. Their tools and modalities tie in nicely with the Hiply process. They talk about nervous system regulation, the window of tolerance and give lots of tips and quick relief tools for when you're feeling stressed and tarry. Enjoy!
Stress and tarry feelings are closely related. Bridget points out that awareness precedes change and choice. When you are showing up in the emotions of stress, overwhelm, frustration, anxiety, it doesn't feel like you have a lot of choice. There's these automatic behaviors and responses and I think that is where when you start to become more aware of some of these practices that we teach in the course, it gives you the ability to stop and pause and have awareness for what's happening in your body, what's happening around you what's happening as you create these thoughts, and it allows you to be able to to make a choice.
Accepting does not mean you're accepting what is happening but accepting how you're feeling.
Quick relief tool tips - shaking it out - get the energy out of the body, move, shake or dance, let the steam out and then move into down regulating breath.
Another relief tool: Boxed lion breath, which is box breathing with lion's breath combination.
We talk about survival patterns - which are related to the way we express when we feel overwhelmed and it's different for everyone. These patterns are installed in childhood, and Becky reminds us that you are not your patterns. The patterns are the leaving patterns, the merging pattern, the rigid pattern, the enduring pattern and the aggressive pattern.

Listen for the following hiply tools and concepts: tarry feelings point to unmet needs and blurry boundaries. The three basic Hiply needs are peace, love and freedom, listen for the hiply process to move through tarry feelings. And of course the ubiquitous and impossibly simple it's okay technique.
What if it doesn't have to be so hard? What if it's fun and easy? Join me in making a difference, one hiply moment at a time. Because when we heal ourselves we heal the world.
Hello and welcome to let's hiply this, I am you host Claudia Williams.
Patrick is feeling tarry about finding the balance between his adventurous side and the more serious work part that tell him to stay focused and be responsible, do his marketing and outreach. He has so much to do on the business side and so much he should do.
We talk about finding your unmet needs? That need for both safety/peace and freedom/adventure. Can you give yourself permission to play and be okay with it? To not judge it as frivolous?

I'm here today with Sorcha Wolnik, a fellow trauma informed life coach in New Zealand who works with Women who feel unfulfilled.
When Sorcha works with unfulfilled women she notes that the weeds the women are in can look different but the roots are typically the same. The weeds may look like parenting, career and relationships, but the roots are often unspoken rules and standards that make women feels all tangled up. The paradigm of the perfect mom, the good wife, the independent women - what even is that?
She talks about emotions and they don't need to be judged as wrong. She helps teach the new emotional language to girls when they are young.
She teaches women to regulate the nervous system, to come back into their body so they can hear themselves and tap into their intuition.
Anger can be sticky and tarry when we're actually feeling hurt or we're feeling sad or we're feeling scared. But we don't know how to be with those emotions. So we layer on some anger, we compound it with anger, and that anger I find disconnects or separates us from others. That's a secondary emotion because that's almost the tip of the iceberg that we're letting people see. You know, when we're irritable, when we're frustrated, when we're that kind of angry, and it drives people away, because under the surface of the water is actually fear or sadness. But there's other times that anger is the whole iceberg. You know, and then, you know, we almost can hold space for it. So I think being I don't want to say clear, but being able to ask yourself, Am I really angry or is there something else here for me? Am I actually scared? Where am I actually hurting? And if that's the case, you know, allow space for for those feelings to be held. You know, but if it's like, no, I really am really bloody angry. Then let's hold space for the anger.
Sometimes the force of our emotions is so great that we actually have to release before we can calm our nervous system.
Sorcha's listener tip - keep it simple!

I love this conversation with my friend and fellow life coach Tudie. She is feeling tarry about setting boundaries around living, working and bartering with her landlord. We talk about her needs, the universal hiply needs for love, peace and freedom. Listen for the following hiply tools and concepts, tarry feelings point to unmet needs and blurry boundaries. How do I determine what my needs are. the it's okay technique, and the concept of trying to stop fighting with reality.. The Hiply process says noticing is the first step and Acceptance is the second and most important step. Once we accept what is happening and stop fighting with reality, we create space for the third step - to get creative and try something different.
Because when we heal ourselves we heal the world. Join me in making a difference, one Hiply moment at a time.
Clean pain vs Dirty pain - clean pain is what's actually happening, dirty is the stories we tell ourselves.
Boundaries - what are your red flags, where is the line in the sand, how do you keep the bartering/ landlord/ childcare relationship clean.
Tudie needs boundaries around space, time and resources with her work/bartering situation.
Proactive communication - come up with systems so we can respect each other's boundaries.
3 basic needs of peace, love, freedom. Peace - space, Love - connection and Freedom is space and time to be yourself and do what you want.
My favorite Tudie quote - "This is not utopia, this is earth". And It's okay.
All Tudie wants is to shine a light, to know at the end of the day that she's shining a light.
Judging the judgment is like adding tar to tar, double extra sticky stuff.

Today I speak with AudreyTricot who has 20 years of experience in mediation and conflict resolutions - helping people listen to each other and find win-win solutions. I loved our conversation for so many reasons but my favorite part is the hiply bubble, a way to use hiply as a foundation, as a safe space, if you will, in conflict situations, can create a safety net for healthy discussions and resolutions. Healthy communication is paramount.
Because when we learn to have healthy conflict and resolutions we not only heal ourselves but help heal the world. Join me in making a difference, one hiply moment at a time.
We talk about Glasl's Stages of conflict escalation and the importance of healthy conflict and using simple communication for conflict resolution. The words we use matter, let's be conscious of our words, fighting words escalate, how can we de-escalate?
Conflict is not always something you want to avoid, there would be no peace without war, but how you go into it is important.
Rules - For the Hiply Bubble
Step back, regulate slightly, check how the other person is (intuitively), is the other person able to listen to you? Both people need to be voluntarily willing to be in the conversation. For a mediated conversation make sure that each person talks for themselves (I statements and facts). Don't interrupt. Wait then ask questions. Maybe use a timer. Deep listening with the only intention to reduce the other person's tar. I'm feeling tarry, please help (is a call for help and a call for space and to be heard). It's a respectful conversation.
It's really interesting to question where you stand with conflict as a person, does it bring you energy or drain your energy. Do you shut down, back away, people please? Loose your voice, or are you more proactive, ready to go there. Are you conflict avoidant? Do you need help bringing up tense conversations?
In mediation it's okay to disagree but you have to agree on the fact that you are disagreeing. Then there's a way to move on, they can start building solutions, win wins, get creative, try something new. What would we do if we had a magic wand?
5 steps in the mediation/conflict resolutions circle -
The What - what is happening, The Why - why did we get there, The Agreement Step - agree to disagree, The Magic Wand Step, The Actions - how do we do this in real life.
We talk about Non Violent Communication (NVC) and how it inspired some of the Hiply Rules, Tools and Concepts. It starts with Facts, which is so hard because the emotions and wanting to be right is all mixed up in it.
Audrey's tip to work through tarry feelings: that first breath, awareness, take a step and breathe.

Welcome to Let's Hiply This, the show all about the new fun Hiply language of love. I am your host, Claudia Williams. Today I'm welcoming Devin back to the show to practice some Hiply, he was my very first guest on this podcast 6 months ago and he is back to work through some tarry feelings.
As we are practicing Hiply listen for the following Hiply Concepts and Tools - tarry feelings are here to guide us, they point us to blurred boundaries and unmet needs. the Inner Peace Self that is never triggered and can heal, calm and reassure all our parts. And I loved seeing Devin embracing the Hiply it's okay technique. Stop fighting, invite all the parts in, knowing it's okay, which takes some of the charge out and creates space. to breathe, to allow, to shift and move through. We finish up with the self forgiveness practice which is so beautiful and really encourages self compassion by accepting all of you, forgiving for beliefs and misunderstandings.
Join me in making a difference, one hiply moment at a time. Because when we heal ourselves we heal the world. Enjoy the show.
Self Forgiveness Sentence Stems:
I forgive myself for the belief that ..... (for example for the belief that I'm doing something wrong)
I forgive myself for the misunderstanding that ..... (for example that things should be different)

I'm your host, Claudia Williams and I'm speaking today with Krista Resnick, a fellow life coach and boundary expert. Listen for the following hiply tools and concepts, tarry feelings point to fuzzy boundaries and unmet needs. the Hiply Inner Peace Self, parts meetings, setting internal boundaries with our parts and being IP Self led and welcoming to all your parts, when the IP Self is in charge setting fierce boundaries comes easily. Enjoy and Welcome to Let's Hiply this, the podcast all about the Hiply language of love.
I'm talking today to Boundary Expert Krista Resnick, fellow life coach and boundary expert. -
Krista became a boundary expert because she had no boundaries. She defines boundaries as something she likes to play with. There is no right or wrong way to define a boundary as it's so different for each of us. It's not just about being mean and saying no. One way to define boundaries is about being honest and in integrity with yourself. This is what I need, this is what I desire and want.
Boundaries are really grounded in what we need. If we don't know what we need we can't set boundaries. It's like throwing spaghetti at the wall. So, the first step is figuring out what I really need.
Krista also likes to explain boundaries and this is kind of taking it even one step deeper with this Victor Frankel quote: Between stimulus and response, there is a space and in that space is where our power lies. In our response lies our growth and our freedom. And so often people will find themselves in these situations where something really uncomfortable is happening. And we hate being uncomfortable.
We talk about internal boundaries with our parts.
I ask Krista what we judge about boundaries as a culture, she says boundaries are selfish, greedy, don't care about others. Putting tar (subconscious stories and tar onto boudaries) is not helpful. I'm curious if I want to come up with a new fresh word for boundaries that doesn't have these value judgments attached to it.
It's really about what am I saying yes to?
Boundaries are actually freedom!
Brene Brown says - clear is kind.

Welcome to Let's Hiply This, the show all about the new fun hiply language of love. I am your host, Claudia Williams. Today I'm practicing Hiply with Ben, who is feeling tarry about asking a girl out and the possible rejection that might go with this. I would venture that we all know this feeling. I very much empathize with him. As we are practicing Hiply listen for the following Hiply Concepts and Tools - the parts meeting, the Inner Peace Self that is never triggered and can heal, calm and reassure the parts.
We talk about the concept of leaning into what you resist - because what you resist persists. We talk about the worst case scenario - because bringing things into the light can help us move through. We try some breathing to calm down and the Hiply it's okay technique to reduce anxiety.
Because when we heal ourselves we heal the world. Join me in making a difference, one hiply moment at a time.
Ben is worried about losing his friendship with this girl. He's feeling some anxiety and weight on his chest that is definitely not helpful. He leaves this Hiply practice feeling a whole lot better and wanting to think about all the good things that are happening in his life and all the things that excite him.

Welcome to Let's Hiply This. Today I speak with Kari Schwear, a fellow life coach and we get into nuances and gray zones, not just with alcohol but all things gray - where are you settling in your life? What are you doing that is distracting you from your best life.
Listen for the following concepts and Hiply tools. The Hiply Process, the 80/20 rule, taking radical responsibility and self acceptance for your life, the Inner Peace Self, connected to the divine and is never triggered. It helps to befriend the parts of us that we don't like. Because when we heal ourselves we heal the world. Join me in making a difference, one Hiply Moment at a time.
Kari used to be an executive at Porsche and had her low point with her alcohol consumption and became a life coach and founded Gray Tonic to identify and spread information about gray area drinking, The space between severely abusing and only drinking from time to time.
She talks about gray zones, and how to move out of living that gray life. Whether it's with your marriage, or your relationship with your kids, or the career that you no longer want to be in? Particularly if they have their own business and they're just, you know, they're successful. They have the money. You know, they have all the outward stuff, but they're not happy inside. And so how do we move them out? Of those gray areas? And, and the secret is finding that internal inner peace. Most people aren't doing that work.
Map of Consciousness - get from your protective state to an expansive state. Getting back to gratitude and receivership. And feeling connected at a soulful level, the Inner Peace Self is never triggered. It's helpful to befriend the parts of us that we don't like and that creates space for change.
Kari talked about the power to Decide Process. We speak about the power of forgiveness and self-forgiveness. And ends with a listener tip to reduce tarry feelings.
