Another awesome Horror short from our good friend David Teixeira...the man who brought us Ouroboros, this movie is just as fresh but a bit more icky. Manny and Rob are without Ruby in the #Point5Productions episode but the boys try they hardest to give you all the info you need to get excited for this lovely slice of Horror! Get ready for Mannequin!

One of the great joys of being a movie nerd of any persuasion, is digging through lesser known films and taking a chance on something which you have little to no background information on. Sometimes you get a forgettable dud. But sometimes, just sometimes... you stumble across a gem. A twisted, uncomfortable little gem.

Possum is the story of an ex-puppeteer who returns to his dreary hometown to face his demons, both inner and external. What follows is a genuinely nightmarish slow burn of uncanny imagery, enigma, and that puppet. 

The gang were genuinely surprised by this singular and disturbing film, come listen to us be audibly shaken by its grimness.

This week's Point 5 Production is a double whammy of two very distinct but excellent shorts, both from the lovely folks over at the Fear Crypt production company. First off we dive into the tense but morbidly amusing Stay Quiet, centring around a disturbed man who really does not like loud noises. Then, we discuss Slash, a gleeful subversion of the many cliches and tropes that we all love to hate about slasher movies. We had ourselves a proper little blast with this one...

"Where we're going, we won't need eyes to see..." Rob and Roo were actually pretty chuffed that Manny got to pick this week, 'coz the boy DID GOOD! If like us you had assumed this was just your typical sci-fi, then think again, 'coz shit gets nasty... In aaaall the right ways. Brought to us by Paul W.S. Anderson, the dude behind Alien VS Predator and Resident Evil, this is one wild ride with some serious ups and downs. There seriously might be something here for everyone, but put it all together and... Well, we get something else entirely!

"They have awakened an ancient; now heads will roll..." Beware the Rage of the Mummy! In this quirky retelling of a classic-horror story, Dennis Vincent brings the legendary Mummy back to life alongside an intriguing comic book narrative, good ol'fashioned satanic panic and all round campy hilarity. You can catch this right now on Amazon Prime and DVD!

Yeah, no biggie. We're only taking on one of the most iconic slasher movies of all time. The searingly hot southern sun, daisy dukes, bloodied meat hooks, and of course, the towering masked brute killer himself. The gang offer their own takes on this stone cold classic and it's subsequent influence on the face of horror itself... "I just can't take no pleasure in killing. There's just some things you gotta do - don't mean you have to like it..."

Today's Point.5.Production brings you our discussion on the wonderful and highly acclaimed short film, 'Lion'. Directed by Davide Melini, and currently sitting pretty with being one of the most awarded horror-shorts in history, getting to watch and review 'Lion' was a truly exciting opportunity for us. With a unique plot, stunning visuals and a Del Toro-esque dark fantasy feel, we highly recommend catching this as soon as it becomes available! Do you think that women are well-represented in horror? This was the question we put to our goresome Twitter followers for this months #debate, as a way to wrap up what has been a most excellent Women in Horror Month. During the episode, we discuss the results of the poll, read through contributors comments, reveal our own individual perspectives on the matter and chat about why these kinds of questions are important in the first place. There really has been no better time or place to celebrate all-things-female within the horror genre, while also highlighting some areas that still may require a little work... On the third instalment of women in horror month, we delve into Mary Harron's iconic black comedy American Psycho. Based on the controversial 1991 novel of the same name by Bret Easton Ellis, this movie presents a twisted take on the superficial indulgences of the Wall Street yuppies of the 80's. Christian Bale puts in one of the most recognisable performances of his career here, and Mary Harron was in charge of one of the most critically and commercially successful female-directed horror(ish) movies to ever see wide release.
