  • Liberty Relearned: Truth and Consequences

Biden freed up $6B of Iranian money. Weeks later, Hamas attacks Israel.

Further proof that the Left never, ever, thinks of the second or third order consequences of what they do. Biden thought he could buy off the Iranians by freeing up that $6B. The Iranians instead put that money to use funding a Hamas war against Israel. One more reason why we need to #impeachbiden

There are several reasons why otherwise fine, decent people support Leftist causes. Some have simply been brought up in left-leaning homes, thus it's all they

know. Others are attracted to high-sounding principles such as equity and diversity. They conflate forced redistribution of wealth with voluntary charity. Leftism trades upon
feeling much more than logic. Most casual adherents to Leftism simply fail to take leftist principles to their logical conclusion or fail to see the connection between collectivist polices and the problems they cause.

  • LR Podcast: The Neurotic Collectivists

The government is bringing back central planning, you know, because it's worked so well every other time it's been tried. Not for nothing, but central planning is

a feature of both fascism and communism. Just Sayn'.

The Biden regime continues to wage war on fossil fuels with its new proposed edicts regulating gas-powered furnaces. This will add to the cost of such items for

    what benefit and to whom?
News item: The federal government plans to regulate nearly every appliance in your home from Just the News

This is further proof that you are not real to them, the collectivists. The true purpose of your sacrifice is to make neurotic collectivists feel good about themselves. Ayn

Rand spoke at length about this mindset in her book “The Virtue of Selfishness.”

"The more neurotic he is or the more conscientious in the practice of altruism (and these two aspects of his psychology will act reciprocally to reinforce each other), the more he will tend to devise schemes 'for the good of mankind' or of 'society' or of 'the public' or of 'future generations'-- or of anything except actual human beings."- Ayn Rand, The Virtue of Selfishness

  • Liberty Relearned Podcast: Corruption in Dystopia

Talking about a Northeastern Democrat being caught up in a bribery scandal is becoming a recurring feature here on the Podcast. This time though,

we have a new name: Sen. Bob Menendez, (D NJ).

He's being accused of selling influence to a foreign entity. Unlike Biden, Menendez is being indicted. There are calls from Democrats for his resignation. Apparently, he's

more easily replaced at the moment by the Democrats than Joe Biden who faces similar accusations of corruption. Biden has yet to be impeached, much less indicted.

Analysis of Orwell's 1984 and how close we've come to it, Pt II

“If you want a picture of the

future, imagine a boot stamping on a human face – forever” --George Orwell, 1984

Every year since those words were written, we've been inching closer to that dystopia. Now, we are almost there. If the world of 1984 was still on the horizon in 1949

when it was published, that world is now within shouting distance. The naked authoritarianism, abandonment of liberalism, the surveillance state, the mutilation of the English language for purposes of gaining power are already here.

It seems the more control the left has gained over our popular culture, academia, and the news media, the faster we seem to be hurtling toward this dystopian future. The only

thing that seems to slow it down is the active, not passive, active resistance to it by a great number of people

  • Liberty Relearned Podcast: Resist the Dystopia

Finally, we have an impeachment inquiry against President Biden. Despite what you may have heard, and what the media tell you, there is plenty of evidence of Biden family corruption that could be used against Joe Biden in an impeachment trial. Now the Republicans have to be smart, disciplined, and put together a case as prosecuting attorneys would in a criminal case.

This week, we do a proper Dystopic Journal segment featuring Orwell's 1984.

  • Liberals, the Left, and libertarians, oh my!

Here’s a real quick thought. I go through great pains to use precise language when it comes to talking about Left and liberals. The two terms are commonly conflated, but it is ever apparent that they are two different groups. The modern Left want something very different than classical liberals. Many, including in the conservative commentary space use the term, out of habit, even carelessly. So, without going into a deep dissertation on the differences, (which I’m perfectly glad to do, just not now), here is a pretty good summary of each group’s main focus…

Liberals: Want to be allowed to do whatever they want.

The Left: Want to do whatever they want, and for you to do whatever they want.

Libertarians: Want to do whatever they want that doesn’t hurt others, and for others to do whatever they want, if it doesn’t hurt others.

As a bonus, I’ll throw one in for conservatives,

Conservatives: Basically, the same as libertarians, so long as it’s worked before.

Also, a brief rundown of current events.

  • Time to lead, Mr. Speaker (clip)

The White House is lawyering up in anticipation of an impeachment inquiry. Will the GOP grow a spine and do what needs to be done? At least authorize an impeachment inquiry, worry about what the Senate will do later. At least give the White House a real reason to hire those lawyers.

  • Time to lead, Mr. Speaker

There's nothing wrong with the Speaker going to Hawaii, but the GOP needs to take care not to spread itself too thin. While they have to be careful not to get lured down every rabbit hole, Congress has an obligation to find out if the situation in Hawaii was mishandled. Unfortunately, if they investigate every Biden or Democrat screwup, they might never get anything of consequence done.

  • Two Different Tyrannies (clip)

Taking political prisoners is now policy with the Biden regime. Harrison Floyd, a supporter of Trump, is behind bars today as a political prisoner. He is one of Donald Trump's 18 co-defendants in a RICO case being brought against Trump et al by Fulton County DA Fani Willis.

Threats of mask mandates are back in the news, despite the rate of daily deaths being attributed to COVID* are about 1/4 to 1/5 what they were when most mandates were lifted in 2022.
