Part of the purpose of this podcast is to share my story and the realities of running a small business - and one of those realities is growing pains.

So what do I mean by 'growing pains'? Well, they can be in all different areas of your business, but the main one I want to focus on today is hiring and support. It can be one of the most challenging growing pains in your business - when do I actually hire someone? How do I find them? Do I even have time to train them? If you've gone through this, then you probably know exactly what I mean.

In fact, a lot of people find it so challenging that they put off getting support for way longer than they should and just try to take care of absolutely everything all by themselves. I can tell you now, that's a recipe for burnout and it's definitely not going to lead to your best customer experience or for you living a healthy fulfilled life.

In today's episode, I'm going to touch on a little word that I've heard thrown around so much lately in business, and that word is scaling.

So many business owners believe that the only way to make more money or become a "success" is to continually scale their business and I don't blame them for thinking that.

Living in a world of social media, you're confronted with the so-called guru's telling you what you should and shouldn't be doing and that if you're not focused on scaling your business then you're doing something wrong.

Well, I'm here to tell you that that's not the only way.

Sure, for some businesses after a lot of strategic planning scaling makes sense. Launching a new course, service or digital product might increase your income but there's no point trying to scale your business without solid foundations and clear processes in place first because if you do, there is a high chance you'll feel overwhelmed, burnt out and things might start falling apart in your personal life, too. I don't want that for you!

It's time to prioritise setting strong business foundations first, getting really clear on your clients' needs and more importantly your capacity and what support you need if growth is truly what you are after.

A lot of my clients have come to me lately saying that they are feeling overwhelmed, burnt out and going through a rough time. A lot of people have unwell family members, mental health challenges, job losses, they're drowning in unorganised chaos and feeling absolutely stretched to the limit.

I recently held my first ever retreat and I'll forever be in awe of how special it was. Scrolling through social media you see so many business owners living their best lives and thriving in the business that they have created but below the surface, do we really know what health challenges, struggles and mountains they're currently climbing to make it all work?

Throughout my life, I've had lots of health obstacles. From headaches, irregular cycles, adrenal fatigue, horrible stomach issues, bloating, pain, and days where I couldn't get out of bed. I knew my body and I knew that something just wasn't right. After years of medical professionals normalising my symptoms and not delving deeper into the cause, I finally received a diagnosis and the answers I needed to hear. I've been on my healing journey since.

I want to share my health journey with you in hopes that sharing my story could help others going through similar situations. If it helps just one person to not feel alone, to stop them from going down a challenging health path, or to give them the confidence to seek answers - then it is absolutely worth sharing the scars, scabs and healing process in real-time.

I'm beyond excited for today's first guest interview on Life and Business In Flow. This is someone who I adore in business and who has had an incredible career to date. She is so open, genuine and honest and is the queen of branding and storytelling.

In 2019, around the time I was changing the business name from In House Stylist to Kate Addamo, I had this little niggle that I needed to start a podcast to share my story, how I created a sustainable business, and to open up a safe space to share vulnerable conversations and even the sometimes taboo.

Fast-forward to 2021, and I'm so excited to bring you the first-ever episode of Life and Business In Flow, the podcast.
