Finding Healthy Ways to Cope with Life’s Challenges
(a.k.a. Put Down the Cookie Dough and Talk About Your Feelings)
In this episode, the crew gets real about numbing out—you know, that thing we all do when life feels like too much and suddenly you’re four episodes deep into a show you don’t even like... with a bag of chips you didn’t mean to finish.
We kick things off with a fun check-in (because, yes, we’re humans before we’re hosts), then dive headfirst into the weird, sneaky ways we avoid emotional discomfort. From staying busy 24/7 like it’s a badge of honor, to using substances, sweets, or even doomscrolling. Nothing’s off the table (except maybe that third slice of cake).
We also delve into the heavier topics: why our culture often pretends emotions are optional, how men often receive a raw deal when it comes to vulnerability, and why feeling your feelings isn’t just for “woo-woo” folks.
We’ll help you spot the signs of numbing in your own life and share healthier, more sustainable ways to deal with the chaos of being a person.

Episode 8 features a deep dive into Desiree's journey as a life coach and her coaching methodologies.
Desiree shares her personal journey into coaching, which began in 2016 during a challenging period in her life. She initially forgot about her coaching aspirations while dealing with divorce, yoga teacher training, and her mother's ALS diagnosis.
In 2020, after her corporate job was eliminated during COVID, she finally pursued her coaching career. Michelle and Doree discuss with Desiree her approach to helping clients, particularly focusing on her use of the Positive Intelligence (PQ) framework. Desiree explains how PQ helps clients identify and manage their self-sabotaging behaviors through understanding their 'saboteurs' and developing their 'sage' mind. The conversation touches on Desiree's specialization in midlife transitions and grief coaching. She emphasized how she helps clients navigate various life changes, from divorce to career transitions, using a combination of tools including somatic work, grief counseling, and PQ techniques.
The hosts also discuss the importance of being coachable and open to change, with Desiree highlighting how she provides various tools and approaches, likening her methodology to a 'Golden Corral buffet' where clients can choose what works best for them.
Put on your stretchy pants and get ready for the buffet we fondly love and know as Desiree!

Let's be honest, we are going through some crazy times right now! So, how do you handle when you don't know what is going to happen next? Do you get stressed, feel anxiety or just shove your head in the sand?
Today’s episode is focused on how to navigate the world of uncertainty.
Join us as we discuss how to live a life without a crystal ball.
Today we discuss the uncertainty and lack of control we face in everyday life, and how to cope with it.
We share personal stories of going through uncertain and uncomfortable situations, and how we eventually made sense of them.
Strategies discussed include: avoiding catastrophizing, looking for the positive perspective, and trusting that things happen for a reason.
Topics:
Uncertainty in life:
We have an illusion of control, but life is inherently uncertain.
Uncertainty can be exhausting, especially around major life changes.
Uncertainty about finances and job changes can be particularly stressful.
Navigating uncertainty:
Having faith that things will work out, even if you don't understand it in the moment.
Avoiding jumping to conclusions and catastrophizing.
Trying to find the silver lining or see how the uncertainty is happening "for you" rather than "to you".
Relying on support systems and sounding boards.

If you’re feeling stuck, you’re not moving forward in the things that matter most to you in life. What’s going on? How can you get unstuck? Is it ever going to get better?
Yes - today’s episode is focused on being stuck and how you can begin to move forward if you feel stagnant.
When we started recording, we had our own experience of being stuck (or frozen). Because we’re a no-frills operation, we left the silliness in there for y’all to witness. See….we all get stuck in life sometimes. The key is not to stay there.
In this episode, the coaches cover:
What’s the best way to tell if you are stuck?
Tools that may help you figure out how to get moving if you’re stagnant
Mindset shifts to help you move forward if you’re feeling stuck
The episode wraps up with a new segment “Coaches Confess”
