Technology has come a long way to enable amputees.
Most young South Africans living with amputation are limited more by health policies and the high cost of prosthetic equipment than by their actual physical ability. At Jumping Kids, the dream is to provide affordable prosthetic solutions geared for optimum results while boosting awareness and advocating for change. It is not enough to merely fit a child with a prosthetic. We believe access to the equipment should translate into access to better education and sport. This is achieved by following a multi-disciplinary approach to ensure the children’s long-term reintegration as valuable members of society.

34-year-old Khanyisile Ngwenya, one of the creators and associate producer of SABC 2’s TalkAbility, hails from Soweto and was raised in both Diepkloof and Meadowlands.
Ngwenya was born with Osteogenesis Imperfecta, also known as brittle bones, and contrary to popular belief, growing up with a disability was not as easy as it might have seemed.
Her challenges were not only physical, due to the obvious multiple surgeries and broken bones, but were also emotional and mental.
And as a black teenage girl with a disability, those challenges further extended to trying to deal with accepting and loving oneself despite the fragile body she lives in.

Minister Cele committed to training 4500 police officers to address gender-based violence (GBV) [1], we want to know if this training has been completed?
There are 193,000 police officers in our country [2], training less than 3% is not enough if we are to really address GBV. We call on Minister Cele to make a public commitment to train at least 50% of police officers to address GBV, in 2020. Finally, the Minister must partner with social justice organisations in monitoring and evaluation to promote transparency and accountability.
