When President Trump’s team challenged election results because of voter irregularities, Democrats went apoplectic, started yelling about apocalyptic threats to democracy and howling at the moon. And now they are actively seeking to overturn the election results from a congressional race in Iowa. The issue is whether votes were counted that shouldn’t have been, virtually the same issue in President Trump’s challenge to his election results. Obviously Democrats are hypocrites of the worst sort here, insisting it’s okay for them to challenge certified election results when they want to, but not for candidates they despise. Stalin said it’s not the voters that count, it’s the people who count the votes that matter since they can cheat the system blind. May justice be done in Iowa today.

Now in a bitter winter, Germany is discovering that solar panels covered with snow produce zero - as in zip, nada, zilch, zero - energy. It’s 30,000 wind turbines are barely producing anything, since the wind isn’t blowing. Altogether, Germany is meeting between 0 and 3 percent of its energy needs from green sources. So where has Germany turned to keep its lights on and its houses warm and their factories running? They’ve had to fall back on coal, the bane of greens everywhere. Without coal, the entire country of Germany would be in a virtual total blackout 24-7. In the future, It will have to rely on natural gas from Russia and nuclear power from France. Bottom line: wind and solar are not the wave of the future in energy.

Bryan Fischer here with the Life and Liberty Minute. The former chief of the Capitol Police gave a detailed account of the events of January 6. His account directly refutes the claim that the chaos was incited by Donald Trump. We now know the event had been planned on Facebook months in advance, but our intelligence services missed this entirely. Many who invaded the Capitol were wearing radio earpieces, indicating a high level of coordination. Others carried weapons, munitions, explosives, and climbing gear, impossible to reconcile with a spontaneous outbreak. Attackers breached the Capitol at 12:52, but Trump did not finish speaking until 1:13, and it’s a 25-minute walk from where he was speaking to the Capitol. The President’s words did not trigger the violence. A not-guilty verdict in his impeachment trial is the only just outcome.

Bryan Fischer here. According to the Constitution, impeachments are for sitting precedents. But Donald Trump is not a sitting president. You cannot remove somebody who is already gone. You cannot impeach a private citizen, which is what Donald Trump is. This is why Chief Justice John Roberts refused to preside over this farce of a trial. Although Trump is charged with the crime of incitement, his speech to supporters on January 6 did not come close to meeting the legal definition of incitement, which requires a direct exhortation to violence. But Trump’s exhortation was for his supporters to make their voices heard “peacefully and patriotically.” You cannot impeach a former president for exercising his First Amendment right to freedom of speech. Everything is wrong about this trial, and nothing is right. The sooner it’s over, the better.

Thomas Jefferson, at the dawn of the Republic, wrote that states can nullify unconstitutional laws or executive orders that come from Washington. His reason was simple: Washington works for us, we do not work for them. Since the federal government is the creation of the states, not the other way round, states are the master, not the servant. States are free, Jefferson said, to stack anything that comes out of Washington up against the Constitution, and reject any edict or directive that contradicts it. Iowa may be about to do that. As of Monday, in Iowa there will no more mask requirements, no more social distancing requirements, and no more limits on public gatherings, including churches. In other words, Iowa is about to become the land of the free as well as the home of the brave. Go, Iowa!

As Trump’s impeachment trial begins, it’s worth noting the Constitution says state elections are under the control of state legislatures, not judges or election officials. But in Pennsylvania, courts ordered ballots to be accepted three days after the legal deadline. In Wisconsin, 220,000 thousand absentee ballots were accepted in violation of state law. In Georgia, thousands of ballots were accepted from people who were felons or had moved out of state. Over 60,000 illegal votes were cast. The violations of the law in these three states alone were massive enough to cost Trump the election. If Trump bases his case on the Constitution, he will be acquitted and every objective observer will see that he should have been. And regressives will be seen for the knaves and fools that they are.

The most mangled phrase in the history of mangled phrases is “a wall of separation of church and state.” It is not even found in the Constitution. It’s from a letter of Thomas Jefferson’s, and the Supreme Court dragged it out of that letter in 1947 and inserted it into its jurisprudence. But what Jefferson meant is that the Constitution erects a high and impregnable wall that protects the church from the interference and control of the state, not a wall that insulates the state from the influence of the church. The Founders believed Christianity was an inseparable part of American society and were eager to protect its freedom to influence all of American life. America was founded as a Christian nation, and America will only be what it is supposed to be if Christianity is allowed to run free again.
