Nancy Pelosi was just barely stopped from including a mandatory minimum wage of $15 an hour in the $1.9 trillion COVID relief bill, a mere 9% of which goes for actual COVID relief. The CBO estimates that the minimum wage increase will put 1.4 million Americans out of work.  So while some workers will get $15 an hour, a whole lot more will get zero, and child care costs will go up by 30%. Jesus famously said a laborer is worthy of his hire. So how much is a man’s labor worth? It’s worth whatever someone else is willing to pay for it. Government has no business interfering in the negotiations between an employer and an employee. The minimum wage for every man is easy to determine: it's the minimum wage a man is willing to receive in order to go to work for someone else.We don’t need government to figure that out.

House Democrats just passed HR1, a bill grossly misnamed as the “For the People Act.” It has nothing to do with the people; it has everything to do with guaranteeing permanent Democrat majorities forever. This 800-page monstrosity would end voter ID for in-person voting or voting by absentee ballot, where the bulk of voter fraud occurs, overruling laws in 36 states; it would legalize unlimited third party ballot harvesting, allowing widespread fraud in assisted living homes; it would would give felons an automatic right to vote when their sentence is up; and would require every state to register 16-year- olds even though they’re not eligible to vote. If you want to see free and fair elections, this bill must be destroyed in the Senate or regressives will run America until the end of time.

In the rush to celebrate sexual abnormality, minor children are being pressured by irresponsible adults into making irreversible decisions to change their sex, a biological impossibility. They’re administered puberty blockers that prevent their bodies from developing the sexual characteristics God intended them to have. Many undergo terrible surgical mutilations in a demonically inspired attempt to make their bodies look like they belong to a different sex altogether. But 90% of teens will resolve these issues naturally by the end of adolescence. Alabama is leading the way by passing a bill that would make it a crime to administer puberty blockers or perform sex change surgery on minors. Let’s hope and pray that every other state in the Union protects children in the same way.

Bryan Fischer here with today’s Life and Liberty Minute. Sometimes we can hatch a plan, convinced it is what God wants us to do. We set out to do it, and all of a sudden God blows the whole thing up. Well, David knew what that felt like. He wanted to build a house for God, and Nathan, his most trusted counselor, said, “Go, do all that is in your heart, for the Lord is with you.” But God said to David, what makes you think I need you to build me a house? When have I asked anyone to build me a house? And then God said to David, I’ve got a better idea - how about I build you a house? God was referring to David’s dynasty as King of Israel culminating in the eternal reign of Jesus Christ. Sometimes we can make plans even with trusted counselors, and then God tears the plan all up. When God does that, remember he’s only taking away your dream because he has something better in mind.

Bryan Fischer here with the Life and Liberty Minute. Democrats are trying to push through HR 1, a bill presented as an election reform bill. It’s be more accurate to call it an election deform bill since it would mangle the election process beyond recognition. We believe that every eligible American should be able to vote, but we also believe that only those who are eligible should be able to vote. If mail-in ballots are used at all, they should only be counted if the identity of the voter can be verified. But HR1 scraps all signature matching requirements, so we will have no way of knowing if the person submitting the ballot is who he says he is or is even registered to vote. The potential for fraud here is enormous. We’ve just been through an election with widespread voter fraud. The last thing we need is to go through that again. It’s time to say no to HR1.

Bryan Fischer here with the Life and Liberty Minute. Thomas Jefferson wrote in 1797 that states are not bound by any executive orders from the president that are unconstitutional. Oklahoma is about to pass a law that authorizes the state legislature to ignore any executive order that it determines to be unconstitutional. Oklahoma would be absolutely right to do this. Executive orders are only constitutional if a president uses them to issue directives to the executive branch as to how a law passed by Congress will be implemented. That’s fine. The executive branch works for him. But an executive order can never be used to make law since only Congress can do that, and an executive order has no authority at all over a governor or a state legislature. Oklahoma is the Sooner state. Perhaps they’re coming to their senses sooner than almost anybody else.

Bryan Fischer here with the Life and Liberty Minute. The House has passed the egregiously misnamed Equality Act. It is in fact The Homosexual Supremacy Act. If this becomes law, here are just a few of the dark consequences. It will be the end of privacy for our daughters in any public places. “Male” and “female” will no longer be legally recognized terms. Women’s sports will be illegal. Every private and government school will be required to teach that sexual perversion is normal, with no opt-out provisions for parents. Parents will no longer have the legal right to protect their children from surgical and sexual mutilation in the interest of gender transition. Freedom of religion for churches, hospitals, schools, and adoption agencies will be prohibited, even when it comes to abortion. Our U.S. senators can stop this madness, and they must.

Bryan Fischer here. Democrats are pushing hard the so-called Equality Act. But in reality, it’s the homosexual supremacy act. Under this bill, it’s homosexuality uber alles. Under the Equality Act, churches will be forced to hire transvestites and female senior pastors or lose their tax exemption. Christian charities will face the same penalties. Private employers will face expensive lawsuits if they don’t use preferred pronouns in the workplace. Christian doctors and hospitals will be forced to perform sexual mutilation surgeries on teenagers or lose their licenses to practice medicine. Abortion will be defined officially as health care. Female athletics will be abolished, and it will become a crime to offer counseling to someone to help them leave the homosexual lifestyle. The Equality Act must be stopped in its tracks.

The Psalmist says, “God will ransom my soul from the power of Sheol.” I remember reading a story once about a young boy who used a fine piece of wood and some tools and made a fine little yacht with his own hands. One day, however, when he was sailing it on the lake, it was carried away by a strong breeze and drifted out of his sight. He looked for it, but couldn’t find it. It was lost. Sometime later, he saw his little yacht in a shop window. He went in to claim it, but the shopkeeper told him, “If you want it you must pay for it.” He went home, counted up all his savings and found he had enough to meet the purchase price. He went back to the shopkeeper, proudly bought the work of his own hands, and brought it back to his own home. He said to his prized possession, “You’re twice mine - I made you and I’ve redeemed you.”

Democrat-led majorities in both houses of the Virginia state legislature voted this week to abolish the death penalty, making it the 23rd state to do so. The governor claims it’s inhumane. But it’s only inhumane to the families of murder victims who now will never see justice in this life. God authorizes the death penalty in the first book of the Bible, where it says, “Whoever sheds the blood of man, by man shall his blood be shed, for God made man in his own image.” When a man takes the life of another man without just cause, he destroys someone whom God made in his own image. Murder is not just a crime against humanity, it is a crime against God. God places such a great value on the sanctity of human life that he has given civil government the authority to require life for life so that justice may be done.
