Lincoln In 1864 Was In Worse Shape Than Trump Is Today

Bryan Fischer here with today’s Life and Liberty Minute. Supporters of President Trump are nervous because polls have him trailing at this point. But pollsters have learned that if they oversample Democrats, which they’ve been doing, they can get the results they want. And Trump’s troubles are nothing compared to what Abraham Lincoln was up against in 1864. America was paralyzed by the violence of the Civil War that he had started. One of his own generals was running against him. The opinion elites opposed him, and members of his own party openly despised him. His own administration was divided, and there was no loyalty to the president. He was faced with a mounting national debt and outbreaks of disease. Lincoln was blamed for everything. But the tide of war turned in late summer, and Lincoln won handily. My friends, it’s far too soon to fret.

Bryan Fischer here with today’s Life and Liberty Minute. In the name of tolerance, regressives on the left have turned vicious, mean, irrational, and vindictive. The cancel culture has become nothing more than merciless mob intimidation. They storm the castle with the goal of the total obliteration of the objects of their hatred. Their consciences have been seared so they do not care if they leave their victims jobless and penniless and without a way to feed their families, pay their mortgages, and buy medication. The cancel culture warriors have gone after pastors and spiritual leaders like Franklin Graham with an unholy vengeance. Winston Churchill once made the observation that timid, fearful people feed the crocodile hoping that it will eat them last. It’s time for God’s people to stand tall and strong and stop feeding the crocodile.

If Someone Has To Win This Culture War, It Might As Well Be Us

Bryan Fischer here with today’s Life and Liberty Minute. As a nation, we are locked in a cultural civil war which only one side can win. On one side are those who believe in God, Christianity, the Ten Commandments, the Constitution, marriage, family, the sanctity of life, and religious liberty. On the other side are those who believe in government control of every area of life, aberrant sexuality, squelching of free speech, and clamping down on Christianity. This divide is evidenced in the latest Gallup poll which reveals that ninetyone percent of Republicans approve of the job President Trump is doing, but only two percent of Democrats do. This eighty-nine percent gap is the biggest Gallup has ever measured. Our cultural adversaries cannot be reasoned with or persuaded. They can only be defeated. If only one side can win, it might as well be us.

Murderer Executed, As Bible Commands

Is capital punishment biblical? Bryan Fischer here with today’s Life and Liberty Minute. White supremacist Daniel Lewis Lee was executed Monday for the torrture and murder of an Arkansas family, including an eight year old girl. In 1996, Lee shot them to death, put plastic bags over their heads, weighed down their bodies with rocks, and dumped them in an Illinois bayou. God says in Genesis 9, “Whoever sheds the blood of man, by man shall his blood be shed, for God made man in his own image.” Taking the life of an innocent human being is such a severe breach of the law of God and man that the murderer must be required to forfeit his own life in the interest of justice. The only question is why did our government take 24 years to put this guy to death? If justice delayed is justice denied, the families and friends of these victims were denied justice for far too long.

Time To Penalize Local Governments For Not Protecting Life And Property

Government’s main job, according to Romans 13, is protecting the life and property of its citizens. Bryan Fischer here with the Life and Liberty Minute. The mayor of Minneapolis pulled his police force back as riots started after the death of George Floyd. By the time the rioters were done, fifteen hundred buildings had been damaged and five hundred million dollars of damage had been done. The governor of Minnesota begged President Trump for millions to repair the destruction, but the president rejected the request. The government of Minneapolis had failed in its God-ordained mission, and the president refused to ask the rest of the country to bail them out. These failures by city governments have occurred with disturbing frequency in cities run by Democrats for decades. We all get the government we vote for, and Minnesota is finding out that can be an expensive affair.

Supreme Court Blows Another One

Bryan Fischer here with the Life and Liberty Minute. The Supreme Court opined last week that a sitting president, in this case President Trump, must potentially face criminal charges in connection with his tax returns. This is flatly, completely, and egregiously unconstitutional. The Founders’ Constitution is quite clear that a president must be protected from getting enmeshed in the judicial system by being forced to respond to lawsuits. Once a president’s enemies discover they can tie up his energies, focus, and time with frivolous lawsuits, they will file one after another. This does not mean the president is above the law, but if Congress wants to go after him, they must impeach him. If he’s convicted and removed from office, then and only then can he face trial in an ordinary court. The Court gave the president’s enemies a big win on this one.

Good marriages reduce mortality

Bryan Fischer here with today’s Life and Liberty Minute. A 2016 study explored whether marital status and family structure in childhood are linked with different rates of mortality across the life-span, and whether the benefits of marriage are modified by family structure in childhood. The results show that adults who lived with both biological parents in childhood had a lower risk of death than children who did not, and that married individuals had significantly lower levels of mortality than widowed individuals. The Difference Between “Black Lives” and “Black Lives Matter”

Bryan Fischer here with today’s Life and Liberty Minute. As Christians, we believe that all lives matter, which of course means that black lives matter too. We believe that every life matters, whether black or white or brown, and those lives matter whether they are born or unborn. But that’s not what the organization “Black Lives Matter” is all about. “Black Lives Matter,” the organization, is a marxist, socialist outfit whose agenda includes the destruction of the intact nuclear family, the promotion of the LGBT agenda, and the abolition of the Christian heritage of America. Its followers are not about strengthening marriages and families in the black community but destroying them for political purposes. Black lives, yes. Black Lives Matter, the organization, no. It’s bad for America and the black community they only pretend to care about.

Supreme Court Bungles Electoral College Case

Bryan Fischer here with the Life and Liberty Minute. The state of Washington fined three of its electors $1000 a piece for voting their conscience in 2016 instead of voting the way Washington wanted them to. The Supreme Court gave their opinion on this case this week, and said Washington gets to force their electors to vote against their own will for the candidate of the state’s choice. But this ruling is misguided. Elections are always free of coercion in the United States. Nobody can be forced to vote against his own judgment. When he is casting his ballot, the issue is between him and God and nobody else. That’s why we jealously guard the sanctity of the voting booth. These electors in Washington changed their mind after they were chosen as electors. But people change their mind about their preferred candidate all the time. The Court is wrong.

Hey, BLM: Time To Tear Down Statue Of Darwin

Bryan Fischer here with today’s Life and Liberty Minute. In their frenzy to obliterate statues of famous men, Antifa has overlooked an obvious candidate. He’s a man who looked forward to the day when white Europeans would quote “exterminate and replace the world’s savage races.” The savage races in his view included Australians, Mongolians, Africans, Indians, South Americans, Polynesians, and Eskimos. He wrote, “The western nations of Europe now immeasurably surpass their former savage progenitors and stand at the summit of civilization.” The man who wrote these words was the inventor of the scientifically bankrupt theory of evolution, Charles Darwin. There are statues of this man everywhere. Let’s keep his statues around to remind us of how gullible people can be, but his ideology should be pulled down and buried in the deepest sea.
