Do Christians Have Rights?

Bryan Fischer here with Today’s Life and Liberty Minute. A pastor I once knew was fond of declaring that, quote, “Christians have no rights.” What he meant is that we must be prepared to set aside our personal preferences to serve others. But, he also created the impression that there is something sub-Christian about going to court to press our legal or constitutional rights. Yet when Paul was being railroaded by the Jewish authorities, had no hesitation about claiming his legal rights. Paul, as a native-born Roman citizen, had the legal right to appeal to Caesar as a last resort. Paul claimed his full legal rights as a citizen, when he declared, “I appeal to Caesar.” Said the governor, “To Caesar you have appealed, to Caesar you shall go.” God in our day has given us the Constitution, and as Christians we have the same right to its guarantees as anyone.

President Trump Can Identify With Jesus Christ

Bryan Fischer here with the Life and Liberty Minute. President Trump is far from perfect. But in one way he can identify with Christ. Both of them subjected to unjust and grossly unfair trials. Pilate three times announced, “I find no guilt in this man.” In a similar way, the president is on trial with no evidence that he committed any crime at all. Just as the trial of Jesus was built on manufactured evidence, so the impeachment of the president is based on a twisted and mangled version of his actions. The trial of Mr. Trump is driven by a raw, seething hatred of the president, in reaction to his defense of religious liberty, the sanctity of life, and Israel. Jesus said if they hated me, they will hate you. The president now knows how true that is. May God cause the truth to come to light, may justice be done, and may this persecution of President Trump draw him closer to God.

Dealing With Our National Sin

Bryan Fischer here with today’s Life and Liberty Minute. Nations can sin just like people do. Our national sin once was slavery. Today, it is is abortion. 61 million babies have been dismembered in the womb before they drew their first breath. God has never allowed a nation with this much blood on its hands to survive. However, we are slowly winning the hearts of the American people on the life issue. We have the most pro-life president in our history, who declared January 22 “Sanctity of Human Life Day” and is the first president ever to personally address the March for Life. He issued a declaration declared“every person, born and unborn, the poor, the downcast, the disabled, the infirm, and the elderly, has inherent value. All life, he said, is a gift from God.” Amen, Mr. President. May God bless you, guide you, and protect you.

Unborn Babies May Feel Pain At 12 Weeks

Bryan Fischer here with the Life and Liberty Minute. The scientific evidence is indisputable that a baby in the womb is capable of feeling pain during a dismemberment abortion at a miimum of 20 weeks. But an article in the Journal of Medical Ethics indicates that babies may be able to feel pain much earlier than that, at 12 weeks. One of the two authors of this earth-shattering article is actually pro-choice and has worked with Planned Parenthood. They point out recent evidence from the field of neuroscience indicate that brain developments which begin at 12 weeks gestation could create a pain experience in a preborn baby, because of the developing function of the nervous system. This new research indicates that babies may suffer excruciating pain as they are being torn apart limb from limb in their mothers’ wombs. It is time for this cruelty to stop.

Why Do People Hate President Trump?

Bryan Fischer here with the Life and Liberty Minute. President Trump is the object of a mindless, irrational, unfounded hatred that is blinding in its intensity. Why? He is hated for the same reason that the mobs cried out “Crucify him!” when talking about Jesus and cried out “Away with him!” when talking about Paul. The president is far from perfect, and many people just don’t like him. But their attitude is way past mere dislike, and is hateful to a disturbing degree. The explanation is simple. The president has done more to protect the sanctity of life, more to protect religious liberty, and more to protect Israel than any president in 40 years. Who hates the unborn, Christians, and Israel most of all? The Prince of Darkness. Ultimately hatred for our president comes from the same source. In the name of Jesus, may God protect our president from all the harm intended against him by the Evil One.

Who Elects The President?

Bryan Fischer here with today’s Life and Liberty Minute. The Supreme Court will hear a case on so-called “faithless electors” - electors who don’t vote the way they’re supposed to. The truthis that the Founders designed a system in which each state gets a certain number of votes, based on their population, and the states choose people - electors - they believe they can trust to cast wise votes for them. When we vote in November, we will not be voting for a president but for electors to represent us when the electoral college casts the only votes that actually count in a presidential election. According to the Founders’ Constitution, once the people have chosen their electors in November, those electors can vote for anyone they choose. States have no legal authority to control them or to compel them to vote a certain way. Let’s hope the Court applies the Constitution the way the Founders wrote it.

President Trump: Defender Of Religious Liberty

Bryan Fischer here with today’s Life and Liberty Minute. One of the titles the king or queen of England carries is “Defender of the Faith.” Well, they’re not doing it very well any more, but America has a political leader who is. Last week President Trump issued proclamations defending prayer in public schools, which has virtually been stamped out by activist judges and enemies of the truth. He also issued a presidential directive that Christian service organizations must no longer be discriminated against in receiving grants from federal agencies. For decades, Christian service organizations have been shut out of full participation in public life by religious bigots with power. No more. For all his faults, President Trump has been the best friend the kingdom of God has had since Ronald Reagan. God deserves thanks and the president deserves our prayers.

Dealing With Occult Spirits

“Those who practiced magic arts brought their books together and burned them in the sight of all.” That’s Acts 19:19. Bryan Fischer here with today’s Life and Liberty Minute. When Paul got to Ephesus, he found a city steeped in the occult. The Ephesians didn’t know that dabbling in the occult arts opens a doorway to Satan. Part of closing that door is getting rid of all occult objects we have in our homes - books, charms, amulets, Ouija boards, magic 8-balls, windcatchers, artwork - anything connected to the occult. I once knew a woman who kept a large picture of a wolf over her fireplace to represent the dark spirit she’d invited into her home to be her protector. As long as that picture hung there, the demonic spirit had the right to be there. To get free of that spirit, she needed to do what the Ephesians did and burn that painting to ashes. It might be time to do some housecleaning of our own.

What About Women Teaching Men?

Bryan Fischer here, with today’s Life and Liberty Minute. There is much debate today about the proper role of women when it comes to the teaching of the Bible. Here’s my two cents worth. The apostle Paul says in 1 Timothy 2:12 , “I do not permit a woman to teach or exercise authority over a man.” Here’s what Paul seems to be saying: when the church is gathered together for instruction, God has entrusted the responsibility to men to be the ones who open the Word to the gathered saints. And also he seems to indicate that the exercise of authority in the church is to be reserved for men. So there are two simple questions we might ask: does this involve women teaching men - maybe we shouldn’t do it. And does this position involve women exercising authority over men? If the answer is yes, then maybe we shouldn’t do it. It may seem antiquated, but remember that the Word of God never goes out of date.

Solving Homelessness

Bryan Fischer here with today’s Life and Liberty Minute. Homelessness is a massive problem in America. What ‘s the solution? The first step is to get government out of the way. Government has been throwing billions at the problem and things are no better. The problem should be handed over to faith-based non-profits supported not by tax dollars but by the generosity of kingdom minded people, as the Good Samaritan helped the victim he found with money from his own pocket. Such organizations will provide shelter but most importantly help people get right with God and accept responsibility for their own lives. Then we must again allow people with chronic mental illnesses to be placed in faith-based facilities designed for the purpose, even against their will if necessary. It won’t be easy but bringing Christ into the mix will be far better than anything we are doing now.
